I purchased an HP Photosmart 5510 in the USA last May. When I brought it to the UK I discovered belatedly that the ink cartridges sold in the UK for this printer could not be used on the printer bought in the USA.
Although the HP technical people in the UK tried their best they could not solve the problem. They therefore arranged for HP to supply me with a free UK printer. They told me that all I had to do was to instal the ink cartridges I had bought in the UK in the new printer and all would be well. I did this - but it doesn't work. Perhaps I should have installed the four small ink cartridges supplied with the new free printer..... perhaps?
So am I satisfied with HP? What do you think?

Love this printer!

Idiot proof to set up and very easy to use, I love this printer. HP is a good name and they do not disappoint with this model. This all singing, all dancing printer is sleek, stylish and economical with ink due to the separate colour cartridges. The only criticism I would have (if I had to) is the way the lid opens on top to scan. It's very easy to pull the whole top of the machine up (as if to change a cartridge) rather than just the lid (to copy or scan) by mistake. Not serious, and you do it less and less the longer you have the machine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had this printer for about a month. At first it worked fine with good clear images. At that time the only negative side of it was how noisy it is when you first turn it on. It goes through some extended warm up procedure that seems to go on for ever. It can best described as extremely noisy.
Now at one month, it's broken. The black ink is messing about as though it were dried up or running out of ink. It isn't dried up and the ink cartridge is still "new" as I haven't used it very much at all.
I have tried all the fixes and it still not working properly. It's going back to the store today for a replacement.

worst purchase ever

I bought on tthis hp5510 on the recomondation of PC World set it all up on the second day set it to print and it spewed out about 10 copys tried again same thing thought Id set it up wrong set it up again asked for 1 copy sent out 5 then kept sending out blanks boxed it took it back under dixons 21 day refund or exchange they refused to do either said they would test it had it for a total of 5 mins said nothing wrong took it home set it up ok for a few hours then it spewed out more paper I complained to dixons customer services who said they had the right to have in to check for faults and would be with out it for at least 3 days Know its still i box and will be the last HPO item I will ever buy

Just minor niggles on an otherwise great product

I use this at home for business and personal use and it is a great little printer, good quality prints and a very easy to set-up wireless function, which I love.
I have a minor gripe and this is that the guides for the paper are not staged, so if you are using anything other than A4, it takes a practised hand to ensure that the photo paper is completely centred or the printing won't line up correctly.
Other than that I would be happy to purchase another printer in this family.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a very good model for those with little space. Front loading of paper is also a space saver. Only "fault" I would say is typical with all printers, in that the paper tray is very flimsy when folded out. I am very happy with this item, and have had no problems whatsoever since the date of purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!
