used to love it; not so much now

We upgraded to this product from a 12 year old Emerson product. This was a great product for almost 2 years.
After 8 months of no use, we set it up for a trip. The car power cord no longer works. We had to use the household power cords plugged into an inverter. One unit doesn't always read the disks and sometimes won't turn on. Both units pause when we hit bumps.
None of these things happened in the first 14 months of infrequent use.
We are back to using the Emerson product.

Also, could you kindly try rotating the AV cable on the units to see if this persists. This product is fantastic!! I have had others in the past but this dual screen dual disc DVD player is amazing!!! The kids can watch different movies with their headphones it's great!!

Dvd player didnt hold up. Started having issues charging after 3 months of use. Dvd door doesnt stay shut all the time either.
Pros: good picture quality
Cons: charge doesnt last

Many years of great use

We have had these players for several years (3-4) and enjoyed them immensely. Many long road trip with the kids. These have two great features which are hard to find. 1. They are DUAL PLAYERS, not just DUAL SCREENS. This works great for different age groups/interest levels. My 3 daughters often have 2 different movies on. The one who is watching alone can use a headset while the volume can be turned up on the other. Even when they want to watch the same we can load 2 movies and when one is over quickly switch over. This was very helpful when they were younger and could not reach the controls themselves. The other great feature is that it pauses and remembers where the movie is when you turn off the vehicle. This makes running errands with the kids a breeze. My only complaint this that these are near impossible to find. No one makes players with these features. We have had other portable DVD players and these are the best. Great Features and long lasting. We need to replace one and I would be happy to buy a new set, but having trouble finding them anywhere-- Phillips really should get this product back in stores. I have recommended this to friends over the years as well, and again, many have trouble finding the product.

Lost sound after 15 months of infrequent use

I loved this set until last week when the sound stopped working on one of my units. BUYER BEWARE: be prepared to replace right after the warranty ends.
Pros: can watch two different movies at the same time, good picture quality, easy to use
Cons: short product life, no backup battery, no remote so hard to control if kids watch in back
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

great connectivity

Overall the product is functional and has a really nice viewing screen.
Pros: portable, nice screen size, can be used separeate or together
Cons: front buttons are not easy to manipulate, one of the players stopped working within 12 month

We got it as a Christmas gift. The dual DVD portable player is great for our two kids who wants to be entertain on a road trip. We have been using it for the last 21 months. The only thing is that one of them is not playing the disc properly or makes the disc get scratched. I don't know if is because over use or defective machine. Easy to install it and take down. Great picture and sound.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Won't load disc or has 'false' bad disc errors.

We had the dual disc player for about 1 year when the first player stopped reading discs. It gave a bad disc error or wouldn't load at all - even with discs that work on other players. We switched so the other player always fed both screens. We use them about 4-5 times a year. All highway (no off-roading or bumpy terrain). In the past six months (months 18-24 after purchase), the other player worked intermittently and has now failed. I would not recommend this product to others.
