Best looking ultra portable notebook on the market!

The 11.6 inch Series 9 notebook is a beautiful piece of technology, with an outstanding keyboard, a stellar list of features and surprisingly good performance. It also has a premium price, but it is a premium device. I frankly was concerned about the small size of the SSD (64Gb) and the limited memory (2Gb and not upgradable), but after two weeks of work with the computer this has not been an issue. I added a 32Gb SD carrd into the MicroSD slot to provide more space if needed and I cannot honestly say that I've seen any issues with the 2Gb memory. If you have never used a computer with an SSD before, perpare to be blown away by the difference from a standard hard drive. The Windows Experience Rating for the SSD is 7.4 (7.9 is the highest possible score under Win7.) The SSD and Samsung's other tweaks have provided me with a notebook that resumes instantly right where I left off by opening the lid and which will boot from the off position ion 20 seconds.
The Series 9 is very light and portable and comes with a similarly scaled down power supply and cord. I find the backlit keyboard to be about perfect: just the right key size, spacing and tactile feel that I love. There is a Function Lock key which you don't see often anymore and really makes the control keys on the Function key row easy to use. The lid of the Series 9 resists fingerprints, as does the deck. You may find you collect smudges on the bottom of the unit and on the gloss bezel of the screen however. Even with that, I much prefer the stylish black finish of the Series 9 to that other very light weight notebook that comes in white because to me white is the color of appliances, not technology.
I previously owned another brand of notebook that I thought was ultra portable (it was around an inch thick, no optical drive, and nicely designed), but it seems like a brick compared to the Series 9.
As to performance, I am pleased with what I've experienced so far. What has bugged me about netbooks and other small PCs has been the performance of the CPU's. My other devices have all performed acceptably in standard useage, but seem to fail miserably when asked to do system level stuff such as move or copy files or install or uninstall programs. I have seen far better performance so far on the Series 9. I attribute this to the SSD and the Intel i3 CPU.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: premium price
I would recommend this to a friend!

weak battery

The laptop is nice: slim, matte screen with good viewing angles, nice sound, backlit keyboard, reasonable speed, possibility for extension with a mini SD card. The screen is widescreen which makes the laptop unusually long.
Samsung ruined it with the alleged "6-cell" battery which is turned out to be only 42 Wh. With WiFi ON, Bluetoof OFF, screen dimmed to 30% and on Power Saver mode, with constant internet browsing, the battery lasts only 5.5 hours. If the screen is at 50% - only 4.5 hours. That is a far cry from the alleged "up to 9 hours". Battery lasts only 3.5 hours if streaming a Netflix movie.
The design of this particular model is basically a folded sheet of metal. Samsung tries to pass it for 'artistic' but frankly it has nothing to do with the much sexier design of the 13.3" models of Series 9.
The keyboard and the touchpad collect fingerprints. The bezel around the screen is glossy and shiny, creating unwanted reflections.
Your battery might be "up to 9 hours" if you turn WiFi off, dim the screen to lowest acceptable setting, and only do word processing. That won't work for must users though ...
All models from Series 9 have the same weak battery, and advertise the same misleading "up to 9 hours".
