Good product, wrong model for ME.

My frig went out so I ran and purchased a new one fast as I was leaving town for a few days and wanted it settled. Should have researched more and talked to others. I just got what I had before-freezer on top so I wouldn't have to 'learn' something new. BUT- the freezer is large and deep (yay) AND the frig is also. The back of the shelves are really deep and I spend a great deal of time almost upside down finding things. The door storage is large. But the only place for wine is the door and you have to put several bottles in that section (and all of the others) so things won't rattle or fall over. One section (for eggs?) has an uneven bottom and little jars won't sit up. I'm sure it is a good frig. Things are cold but I REALLY wish I had gotten a freezer on the bottom at least and probably double doors even if I would have had to choose stainless as the outside. Energy efficiency will be improved at least over my 30 year old model. :-)

Our old Whirlpool frige was a better product...

Our new Whirlpool refrigerator seems junky compared to our last one, which lasted 20 years and was more solidly built, inside and out. The new one creaks when it's opened and closed, despite my leveling it. The shelves and trays, especially the door ones, are thin and cheaply made, compared to the old one. The inside arrangement is less "user friendly." There is a little shelf on the bottom of the door that is barely accessible. The lighting is poorer inside; there is none in the freezer, as our old one had. It didn't even come with ice trays, as the old one did. There is only one temperature control for both frige and freezer; our old one had separate controls. The "kick plate," or whatever it's called, on the bottom, is thin and looks cheesy. In fact, the entire outside looks "cheap" compared to our old one.It does run quietly, which is nice.

good value for price paid

I am happy with my purchase. I like the top freezer. The storage drawers are very smooth and have a quiet glide. The one drawback is the sound when running. It sounds like my dog gently snoring . Sometimes I can't tell which is which. The appliamce is a good value for the price paid and for what I needed....no bells and whistles.

Quality Control an issue

I had three refrigerators of the same model delivered before finding one that was an acceptable product. The first one that was delivered had a very audible squeak in the plastic of the unit when it jiggled as the door was opened or closed. Technicians were not successful in eliminating the noise by leveling it, and the unit did not maintain the appropriate temperature when set on the manufacturer's recommended setting. The second unit had a vibration noise in the compressor a few seconds after the motor started, and it also did not maintain the proper temperature when set on the manufacturer's recommended setting. Also with the second refrigerator, when the door handles were reversed to open on the right side, they did not line up properly. The third refrigerator was quiet, maintained the correct temperature when set on the manufacturer's recommended setting, and the door handles lined up. Although I am happy with the third refrigerator that was delivered, an average rating may be high since two out of three refrigerators were not acceptable. I purchased the WRT311SFY model because I did not want the full-width pantry drawer, which other reviewers indicated had problems staying in place.

Poor choice in refrigerators

My fridge went out a month ago and I panicked because I had just restocked everything. I looked online at a large furniture/appliance store and saw this relatively inexpensive model. It happened to be one that they could deliver the next day so I bought it based on that. I had never bought a Whirlpool appliance before in my life, but thought that they had a good reputation. Not seeing it in person was a disadvantage, but I am disabled and not able to get around to do this kind of shopping. Plus everything in my old freezer was defrosting. I should have paid more attention to the details but I needed a new one urgently. First of all, it's unattractive. Very square corners and door handles don't line up. And both doors slam back all the way open if you open them too far. Also they don't give you enough white covers to cover all the holes if they have to switch the handle to the other side. Then I noticed that it uses the MOST energy on the Energy Guide. Also, the butter container at the top of the door has a clear plastic door that flips up and slams back loudly and doesn't leave enough space to put a butter dish in it. So I took the plastic flip-up door off and that gives me more space to get the butter in. All in all I feel it is very poorly designed, very unattractive and poorly made and I regret very much buying it. I will, however, take part of the responsibility due to the fact that I made this purchase in such haste. I just didn't realize they made refrigerators like this. So partly my bad.

one feature I miss is the freezer compartment did not come with a light. Thoughtthat was odd. I didn't notice that until we installed it. Too late then.
