so far so good,had to replace same brand after 5 years, no help on situation from any body, can not rate until I see if this freezer lasts.sorry whirlpool not trying to bad mouth you,but product should last longer.

A Good Buy

We searched long and hard to find a smallish upright freezer that had a reversible door. (These are REALLY hard to find in smaller uprights). Due to the location we needed to put it in our basement, it HAD to have the hinge on the left. We bought it from a local "big box" supplier for a reasonable price compared to others in the same size range. It has no "bells & whistle" to speak of but we weren't looking for that, we simply needed a good uncomplicated box that holds plenty of food. Seems we got what we were looking for. The supplier delivered it, quickly swapped the door to the left side for us and plugged it in; it cooled down quickly. We soon filled it about half full. Everything in it is now "rock-solid" and the freezer just hums along. Yes, it does make SOME noise, but not nearly what I expected based on comments by other reviewers. Do I hear it when I'm upstairs? - yes, sometimes, but it's really not that noisy and it's barely noticeable.This is supposed to be a frost-free unit but we had some initial frost buildup. We shifted it around a bit on the floor too make it more level-don't know if that was the reason for the frost but it seemed to do the trick. Hope the frost doesn't come back. We'll see; but as for now, we're happy with it.

THE PRODUCT IS SIMPLE AND ADEQUATE FOR MY NEEDS THE ONLY DOWN SIDE IS TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATION.

The freezer works as expected: it's cold and quiet. So far it seems like a good performer, but since we've only had it a few months, I can't speak to long-term reliability.

Failed after 25 months

Purchased new in August of 2013. Freezer worked perfectly for just over 2 years. It has now completely stopped cooling. The compressor tries to run, but the inside of the freezer is room temp. I bought a highly rated product from a reputable manufacturer specifically to avoid this exact situation: a defective product that dies after warranty runs out. Now the newest major appliance in my house is worthless. I've also lost all of the food in the freezer, costing about as much as the freezer did.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
