first upright and definite improvements over chest freezer

we have always used chest freezers and my wife was beginning to have trouble digging in the bottom to find something, so we decided to go with upright. She is already very satisfied that we switched.

Spacious freezer

I bought this freezer 11 months ago. After 9 months, the evaporator coil broke and we woke up to a freezer full of thawing food. Fortunately, it was under warranty and after a couple weeks we got everything repaired, good as new. The freezer is very spacious, there is plenty of room for everything we need. The shelf sizes are appropriately spaced. The door holds a surprising amount of food. Food goes from thawed to frozen very quickly. All-in-all, we are very happy with the purchase

Just plug in. For the two of us it is great! Just wish it was quite but I don't hear it since I put it downstairs.

Overall, a great refrigerator.

We bought the refrigerator in May 2014 and really like it. There are a couple of things I would design differently if I had the chance. The ice machine in the door needs to be aimed out a little further. Ice regularly drops behind cups and glasses when used. Also, it is nice to have two doors, and we love that you don't have to close one before the other. They can be closed in any order. But we don't like that you have to open both doors to get into the crisper drawers, or the long deli drawer. It would make more sense to have the drawers line up with the doors so you don't have to open both doors to get something out of the left drawer, or both doors to get something out of the right drawer. And I'd split the deli-drawer for the same reason. Everything else is wonderful.

It came well packaged to prevent any shipping damage. Once out of the box and plugged in, it worked perfectly. Set the temperature, wait a few hours and it is ready for use. Easy to load with correctly positioned shelves. For our use it is just the right size and complimentary to our Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer.Thank you, Whirlpool! Another satisfied customer.
