I had always bought Whirlpool appliances in the past because they where well made and reliable. When I read that they had merged with Maytag I quit buying Whirlpool products because I'd had such bad experiences with Maytag. Several repairmen have assured me that Whirlpool took over the making of Maytag products and not the other way around. I am so glad to be back "in the family" and buying Whirlpool again. For my vacation house I just wanted a plain refrigerator, nothing fancy and they offered one!
So far it seems efficient and quiet. I like the vacuum seal feature when closing the freezer. Only problem is the refrigerator door slams when allowed to close on its own.
You can't really appreciate an appliance until it stops working. My last refrigerator lasted 6 1/2 years. When it kicked the bucket, it went out with a bang. First it cried for help with an annoying humming noise. Then, like all of us after a certain age, it would wet the floor sporadically. I had no choice but to get a new one.I picked a Whirlpool with a top freezer. I wasn't looking for fancy but something g that works. It is however so much more. There are compartments and drawers that don't stick nor have to be jiggle to open. It's quiet and my food stays just the right temp. I guess you could say it's pretty cool. (Pun intended)
This is a very good product for someone who needs/wants a basic model refrigerator. We have 5 in our family and the capacity is sufficient. Good product. I would recommend it.
One of the utility compartments in the door does not fit well and is always falling out. The first one fell out and fell in pieces on the floor, along with my eggs. A replacement was sent free of charge, but it is still a problem. I now don't keep anything in that compartment so I have wasted space. Other than that it is a good refrigerator, but I would not buy it again.
