i usually root and install pure AOSP version of android on my phones but I don't feel the need to do it on this device. with Google Now launcher the sony theme is almost absent.
never thinking about battery life is amazing. I have a hard time going to bed with less than 50% left.
i'm considering buying a backup just in case this model gets discontinued.

My boyfriend and I both got this phone back in October. A few weeks later the back of my boyfriend's phone shattered. A few weeks after that the screen in front cracked so he can't use the top of the screen anymore. Mine was fine until today when I was reading something and all of a sudden the screen started dimming and went completely black. I thought the phone had died but turns out my screen now just shuts off at random times or changes color. Very disappointed in the quality of the phone...would have expected more from Sony.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This phone is excellent. It takes great pictures. It is a fast phone. Compact size, fits in my pocket. Unlocked is great as I change sims when I travel. It charges in the cradle and the battery lasts a long time because the screen isnt so big. I love it.

When I first saw this phone I was amazed by it. I couldn't wait to get it. It could handle a little outdoor activity/water without issue. Well as long as you don't put it in your pocket! The glass on the back of the phone cracked within days of getting it. When calling customer support about it they just kept running us around that it was our fault the glass broke and not a defect. So the phone cannot take the tension your pocket puts on it is what they told us. The broken glass also makes the phone no longer water proof which was one of the main reasons I got it. I will never buy a sony product again. Horrible product, Horrible customer service. After a half dozen attempts to return it I gave up. They refuse to work with you at all. What is the point of a cell phone you can't keep in your pocket?

Only after having it for less than a month the side charger port door quit ceiling making it not so waterproof. The phone itself is built beautifully and performs as it should pictures are awesome. But I had to return it to have it repaired leaving me without a phone. I had to pay For shipping which I think should've been warranted under the warranty. I guess I'm going back to the iPhone plus I can locally swap it out if I have an issue. It's just too bad that Sony doesn't offer something like this locally.

I love the compact size of it and the fact that all holes are covered to be waterproof. The camera is great and comes with some very cool editing features as well as photo prop features my kids enjoy.
The call clarity is very good as well.
Only issue is that the screen resolution isn't as good as on other phones (or the non-compact version of this one), so when I view pictures on the phone they don't actually look as nice as they do when looking on a computer or printed out.
One neat feature is that voice mail doesn't automatically go to your phone provider's VM, but is like an answer machine on your phone-- meaning that you can actually still pick up the call while someone is leaving you a message. Neat!

I had REALLY high hopes for this phone. I even switched carriers to get one! The good is that the phone is fast, great size, feels durable. The bad is that it does not support group texts. Even with external apps, all group texts go out separately and come in separately. This is unbelievably inconvenient and confusing- I hope Sony can come up with a fix for this. Also have massive problems with the phone not ringing or giving missed call notifications in my home. There are a lot of chats with other users having the same problem if you research. Seems like the solution is to turn off LTE or wifi. Again- not really ideal. Definitely not the service or carrier- all other phones work fine. I contacted Sony about the issue and have not received a reply. So, if you want a powerful smaller phone that looks pretty the phone is perfect. If you want to use it for receiving calls and texting your friends...maybe look somewhere else.

...the battery does not last two days, if you are someone who constantly uses it for work. I keep mine on Stamina, without many applications open (email), and I still have to recharge before the end of the day. Also, the back (where the color is) actually cracked in my pocket (not dropped nor impacted; not even wearing tight pants!).
Overall, it's a good phone.
