When I bought it, I was so excited, it had everything I needed. Great audio, screen was bright and clear, MicroSD expansion, Fast, decent memory and overall not to expansive.
I've always though of Sony as a company that makes quality products but for the first time, I'm having doubts. I've owned my phone for like a month or two and the 3.5mm started breaking down, audio isn't clear makes weird noises when I turn my 3.5mm pin... so I've come to the conclusion that it is broke.
I'm not sure if I'm even covered in warranty but it just sucks that a feature so necessary for me, just died. Now I'm like stuck carrying an iPOD all the time with the phone... the usefulness of a phone is it can do everything so you don't have to carry so much, I was hopping with all that dust and water resistant, it would be longer lasting.
My phone had a protective bumper case around it as well as a front & back tempered glass screen protector on it. It was fully padded inside my bag hence no reason why the screen would shatter the way it did. Googled around and turns out this has been going on with other owners (sudden cracked/shattered screen without dropping it too!). It's 4 months old! Just sent it back to Sony Warranty & let's see what they say. It's a huge hassle not to have this phone for an upcoming trip to Egypt! My buggy & temperamental Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, bought in late 2009 is what I'm currently using while I'm waiting to hear back from Sony.
Battery lasted around 7 hours average when I was traveling. My usage for the day were as follows: sporadically using GPS/Google Maps for directions, lots of picture taking but no video, few instances of using internet search, picture upload to Facebook; no calling just some text; absolutely no video/music streaming, no games. However, when I'm not traveling, battery lasts me 2-3 days on 1 charge since I only text/call on it & sporadic checks on Facebook, no net surfing/music/games. I like the battery saving features (stamina, ultra-stamina) & have used both settings while traveling, to get me back to the hotel and charge before leaving for dinner.
Camera is good. However, can only do the features (anti-motion, cuisine, landscape, etc) if it is set to 8MP. If set to 15 or 20, then just regular picture setting. Also, forget about using this in the dark outdoors and/or against bright background and/or low light setting. Pictures turned out bad. Flash is weak.
DO NOT buy this for the underwater / waterproof capability either. My friend's phone couldn't be turned on/it suddenly shut down after getting wet. Personally, I really wasn't planning on dunking this in the water. I just wanted that assurance that the phone will still work & I can take pictures while it is raining when out traveling. Which it did. It just sometimes freezes and touchscreen has some delay in its responsiveness. Can't comment on whether it can handle sink drops, as I never dropped it anywhere and especially not in a sink. Also can't comment if you can take pictures underwater since I didn't swim with this (based on friend's scenario, it doesn't work either).
Why I gave it 2 stars: 1 star is for the battery life (still have to carry the charger everywhere). 1 star is for the camera since it's pretty good as long as not in low-light settings.
The Z3C battery would drain from 100% in the morning to 38% by the early afternoon, while in standby mode. With no phone use the battery would be hot. When new I first loaded my contact information. Soon after I realized that I had never heard the phone ring, and found that there were no pre-loaded ring tones. I had to reset the software completely to obtain the "canned" ringtones, (and lost all the contact information I had entered). I returned the phone within 2 weeks. Sony did give a full refund. Sony requested this review months after I returned the phone, which likely means that they do not have a process to check for returns vs. continuous owners.
It's an ok phone, but I'm back on my iPhone. The iPhone lets you insert pictures in the body of an email. The Z3 doesn't. It creates an attachment. That defeats the purpose. I want my picture within the body of my email....not as an attachment to the email.
Maybe not a big deal to some, but very important to me.

The good: very long battery life. Fast processor, with Kit Kat. The bad: Poor call quality, especially with noise cancellation on. Poor camera quality in any mode. Does not focus in video mode. Pictures are not sharp either. Bluetooth voice command does not work unless the phone is on a flat surface, facing up ONLY. Any other phone position will lead to an impossibility to issue any voice dial command to the phone: basically rendering Bluetooth useless. This happens even if the headset is right next to the phone. The touch screen can be jittery and exhibit bounce-back. You will need to get used to it. It is not as easy-use as other phones.
It's the worst phone ever. It doesn't have an Arabic language in it, which is weird. And when I tried to return it back, they told me that I'm gonna lose 15% of the price.
