My five year old got this game yesterday and beat it in a few hours. The game play mostly consists of searching static backgrounds for hidden objects and a few mini games. The mini games are very simple. There is a game where you sort objects into categories(color, type of object etc..). A game where you match two like halves to make a whole. A game where you view a picture from one perspective and then have to choose the correct corresponding picture from a different perspective and the last major mini game is Sudoku. There is also a mini game playable from the main menu where you throw pies at monsters and try to avoid throwing them at your friends.
As compared to the other Explorer games we have purchased this game falls well short on over all quality and polish. It also really lacks any replay value. Your child will probably be completely finished with the game shortly after buying it. It is a "thumbs down" from us.
Pros: Not engaging enough
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have a 4 year old son that got this game this weekend and while the games are not "extremely" challenging (with a little help from mom!) they do get a little harder as the game progresses. He spent the better part of the day working on it and is not thru all of it yet; I'm not sure what the puzzle points do yet but unlike the other review said there is another game stage and that's where you use them in - plus there are extra modules you can add to it which we are very excited about! I think it's a great game that will keep my little guy entertained for many, many hours to come.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids, Grows with child
I would recommend this to a friend!

Game is shared between an 8 year old above average reader and a 6 year old below average reader. Both enjoy. The Barbary Coast is an area of San Francisco and the game discusses \ brings up different places in San Francisco. After a recent move to the Bay Area, I discovered a side benefit of this game. Both kids are very interested in visiting San Francisco and learning more about places in the game.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids, Grows with child
