I bought this game for my daughter. She loves animals and was getting bored with just pet pad that comes with the leappad. I can't keep her off this game, or me either sometimes. We both have already had hours of fun. Great buy!
Pros: Fun for kids

Like other people here have experienced, the game froze within about 10 minutes after gameplay. However, I just connected the LeapPad2 to my computer, it synced for a few seconds, and the issue was completely resolved.
The game is great fun! I would recommend spending a few minutes explaining to your very young players about the virtual money/purchasing feature within the game. My daughter accidentally "bought" two pairs of sunglasses for her pup when she had merely intended to try them on him. She was a little sad that she didn't have enough money for other accessories due to her mistake. When you are in a store and you click on a product, a box pops up asking if you wish to purchase it, with a red "x" and a green checkmark as options. If your child is too young to read, they may not understand that they're making a permanent choice. Spending a few minutes in the beginning helping them to navigate around the virtual world of Puppy Town will really go a long way toward enhancing the rest of their experience, as it's pretty intuitive after they get their bearings. Overall, a very fun game!

Yep...it freezes...

Great game! My wife has a Nintendo DS and my daughter always loved playing nintendogs. When she received her leapfrog and got this game for it, she thought she was pretty tough stuff! She showed everyone her dogs and showed off thier tricks.
The game does freeze though. We thought it was just hers, maybe even the leapfrog itself. After reading other's reviews, we were half glad and half upset. Glad to hear we arent the only ones with this problem, upset that leapfrog has not issued a patch or update for the game to fix the problem.

Freeze

This is a fun game and my son enjoys playing it, but it tends to freeze and I have to remove the batteries in order for his Leap Pad 2 to work again. I downloaded this game, didn't buy a cartridge, and I have done updates on the Leap Pad and the games. Other than the freezing it's a wonderful game.

My preschooler daughter loves this game! She can do it all by herself. It is similar to Pet Pad that comes with the LeapPad but has more games and options.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids

Great game but freezes up

My 3 and 6 year olds LOVE this game, unfortunately I am having issues with it freezing up as well. The whole device freezes and I have to pop the batteries out then put them back to restart it. My kids each have a Leap Pad 2 and it happens on both of them and is specific to this game, all other games work fine. I've been troubleshooting with customer service but am seeing that others have not been able to resolve the same issue. I hope to exchange it with another game if the freezing issue cannot be resolved, it happens too frequently to make the cost of the game worth it.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello! We have been alerted about Pet Pals 2 causing some freezing. We have implemented a fix into the LeapFrog Connect software. Simply sync your device and allow the update. After you eject the game will no longer freeze.

Having the same freezing issues others have had with this game. I have tried updating, as advised, but it still freezes. On top of this the extension pack I downloaded for the game doesn't work either; there are no new puppies to select as described in the extension review.
