Awful, Disappointed

Printer stop functioning after minimal use and horrendous customer service.
I am a low volume printer user, and after about only 200 or so pages, the printer started making an awful noise. After many calls with Support, I was instructed to take the machine to a repair shop since it was out of warranty. The repair shop informed it would cost more to repair than replace. I notified Support again, was told too bad so sad--out of warranty. I contacted Corporate, who advised also-- too bad for me. They would pay for replacement parts but that's it--well the labor is the expensive part. While I do realize there is a warranty period, I also think that the intention is that the printer should last for more than about two hundred pages. I feel that I'm being penalized for being a low volume printer--that if I had printed 200 pages in the first month or two, the printer would have broken down while still under warranty. I'm disappointed that Brother is not standing behind their product--or only in the most useless fashion. A more customer oriented organization would recognize that the printer should have lasted longer than a couple of hundred pages and made an accommodation regardless of the warranty. Now,they lose all potential future sales of additional toner cartridges and they have a disgruntled customer who will not only never buy another Brother product, but who will advise others through online and word of mouth, to not purchase Brother products. What a wasted opportunity for Brother to step up to the plate, recognize the issue for what it is, do the right thing and have good will from their customer.
I'm going back to HP printers--where I've never had a problem ever (I only bought the Brother because it had a smaller footprint and the previous reviews seemed ok) I suggest you do they same and skip any potential headaches.
Also, as a footnote, the printer never stayed connected to my computer--I was constantly having to reset the wireless connection when I wanted to scan.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I LOVE this printer

When I think of the time I have wasted with other printers--paper jams, out of ink, not set up right, confusing to use, etc.--I could shoot myself!!
This Brother is so easy to use and is always there for me with no complications. I have NO complaints about this printer. I do not even miss the color aspect. Lazer is the way to go for easy printing with Brother.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great printer, so-so software

I love the printer. This is my first laser, and I am very pleased with it.
The scanner is adequate but not versatile; it only does full scans (no preview) so it is very slow, and the options and tools are scant.
The third-party software that comes with it seemed very invasive to my system and I did not like it very much, and I wound up uninstalling it.
In sum, I give the printer 5 stars and the scanner 3 stars and the extra software 2 stars at best. I would have given 4 stars overall if the extra software had not been presented as an integral part of the installation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Printer

This is my first wireless printer and it took me a while to set it up. Don't know if the difficulty was my fault or the directions. But, once connected, it functioned well and has continued to do so for several months. I use it three to four times a week, both scanning and printing. If it lasts for at least two years I will be happy and would consider purchasing a replacement similar to the model I now own.
I would recommend this to a friend!
