More than I was looking for

I needed to replace an older Samsung printer that was smearing. I was actually looking for a color wireles laser when I came across this one on sale. This printer has more usable features than I expected for the sale price. True it is not a color laser, but upon evaluating my previous usage I realized that for the few times that I do need color it was cheaper to take it to a copy center. The ability to make copies plus the duplex feature have been a welcome benefit. For me, brother will be the way to to in the future.

Easy Setup

I am a novice at using laser printers. The instructions both written and on the set up disc were straight forward easy to comprehend. For personal use it is very fast, clear and professional looking lettering. Blends in with my wireless touch screen desk top. Plus low cost to operate. Excellent Buy!

Great value

Great laser printer. Easy to use and does crisp printouts and scans well. and its fast. Set up with Mac only required downloading drivers from the Brother web site and they did not come with he machine. I like that it goes to sleep (standby) after printing. Toner packaged with machine has a limited capacity, so be sure to buy a full capacity cartridge.
Only glitch is the wireless setup function will not accept long password keys due to the small LCD display. But a wired network connection works fine. Otherwise I would have given it a five star rating.

Great printer

This printer was very easy to set up for wireless use. It prints quietly, quickly and clearly. I would definitely purchase this printer again and highly recommend it.

nice printer

This printer has worked great other than when we have had power outages- then it starts spitting out pages of gibberish which may have something to do with losing it's communication with the router. It's happened several times and at one point i had to reinstall to make it quit. I did contact customer support, they did call me, but the printer was working then. Turning the printer off and using the "stop exit" button didn't stop the printer from printing off the gibberish pages. Now if I plan to be gone any length of time, I turn it off. But i did figure out it had something to do with our electrical power going off and on.

Not bad

It had trouble setting up both the Wi-Fi and the Ethernet connection at the same time. Had to set up Ethernet first and the other would follow. The second time it took right off and held.

Value for money, small footprint

I have used it for better than a month and I am pleased. This is my third Brother laser printer. The first two were not duplex printers. Both the duplex and scanner are my reasons for purchasing the HL-2280DW. Print quality is excellent. The scanner is convenient for document copying. I assume that the scanner is not up to film quality as frames for film or slides were not supplied. Very disappointing.

Small Inexpensive Laser Printer

I went to a local office supplies store and asked if there was such a thing as an inexpensive monochrome laser printer (also taking into account the cost of the cartridges and supplies). All the sales associates unanimously steered me toward the Brother line. I bought the HL-2280DW, and took it home. It set up easily, including hooking it up wirelessly to my home network. I have printed almost a thousand pages already, and it is still on the first toner cartridge. GREAT printer!
