Poor Design

The length of the handle is not long enough for the screwdriver to engage the phillips head screws with out strippng the heads of the screws. Sad, I have 7 more to install. Seriously considering just returning them and getting a different brand.

HUGE disappointment

It was difficult to install to begin with but finally did with customer service help. Here's the problem: once you twist on the handle to catch the screws, it's impossible to actually tighten them as they are located under the handle. Now maybe someone out there makes a phillips head screw driver with an off-set handle to use on these but if they do, it would be nice it the instructions said you needed one. I can manage to open the door without the handle falling off but my son and his friends can't. I have to put it back on 2 or 3 times a day. Thank god I kept the old deadbolt on the door so I can really lock it at night. Very sad customer.

Hello MrsScott58,
Thanks for reaching out to our Support Team and please know that we are happy to help you further. The Juno knob fits doors with a thickness between 1-3/8 inches to 2-1/4 inches. If your door is between 1-7/8” to 2-1/4” thick, you may need longer screws to ensure the knob stays on the door securely. We're here to assist you with troubleshooting, sending you parts, and warranty replacements if needed. We ask that you please call us at 1-800-327-LOCK (5625).
Thank you, Kwikset

Worked Fine Until It Broke

I installed this in an entry door between the garage and house. It worked fine until without warning the latch jammed. The know would turn but the latch would not retract. Code required a solid door with spring return hinges so the door could not be removed by pulling hinge pins. Removing the knobs and prying the pull mechanism did not work. Credit card trick was not an option in this situation. I was finally forced to remove the trim moldings and nibble and saw away the shims and nails so that the jam could be pried away from the door, releasing the latch. After a frustrating hour I was able to get the door open and remove the latch mechanism. Not at all happy with this product.

Have 4 that I installed 4 years ago. Installed easily in the existing openings. Outside portion still looks like new. Can not say enough about the SmartKey system. Really like being able to re-key easily whenever necessary. Will never buy another keyed lockset that isn't a SmartKey.

Best Entry lockset for its price.

I bought the Juno entry (740J 5 SMT) and I have them on four (4) doors in my home. I have a large hand and the Juno fits my hand comfortably. We like the antique brass finish and all are in "like new" condition. Re-keying is easy but read the directions well or you may find yourself locked out. I found out the hard way. If you pull the re-keying tool before inserting the new key - it resets the cylinder to a pin combination for which you have no key. (Do NOT close the door until you know the re-keying took).

Poor quality

I bought this Juno knob for keyed entry along with the same knob for all other bathrooms, bedrooms, and closet. The keyed entry one kept sticking. I received a replacement from the manufacturer and it sticks and grinds worse than the first one. Very unhappy with this product. The non keyed entry ones work fine.

Terrible design for installation, weak screws

The knob directly covers the screw holes, can't even angle to screw in. Screws are weak and immediately stripped when trying to back out. Terrible design, poor quality.

We bought this lock last year, and after rekeying it with the smart key it didn't want to open sometimes. Kwikset sent me the instructions and the tool and parts to rebuild the lock. The process took around 20 minutes, and the lock works great now.
