The MFC-J835DW met and exceeded our expectations for our needs. We had minor adjustments on picture prints and development, that were made. Otherwise, this was an excellent purchase made.

Worst printer ever

Have had lots of printers over the years. I bought this one because of a strong recommendation from the Best Buy sales person. I didn't "need" a new printer; I "wanted" it because I intended to connect wirelessly to my home network which includes several computers and other devices.
Instead of the easy connection to the network I had been promised, it turned into a nightmare. Ended up costing me more than twice the purchase price to get the printer set up. Had to bring in a professional IT consultant to work on it. Then it wouldn't stay connected. After making three trips to my house, he concluded that there were problems with the printer's wireless system.
Totally frustrated, I returned it to Best Buy and used the store credit to buy a Canon MG 5320 which I hooked up to the network myself. It works like a charm. It does everything Brother promised on the J835DW---and couldn't deliver.
Now, I get daily marketing emails from Brother even though I "unsubscribe" to every one of them. Their web site seems to work as badly as their printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Almost perfect but.....

I bought this model based on product reviews and ratings and for the most part the copier has performed well. My only gripes are the "low ink" warning pops up way too soon, (nowhere near the 300 page claim) also, sometimes when printing multiple pages, the copier will spit out multiple blank sheets at the end of the run. If it weren't for those two flaws I would have given the product a 5-star rating.

Very Good printer

Overall it is a very good printer. I love the wireless features, and the generally very good print quality. The price of the printer was within our budget. The actual footprint of the unit was fairly small which was a deal-breaker, since the space we have is limited.
I found the initial setup a bit tedious, and the manual confusing and fairly useless (otherwise I'd have given a 5 rating)

Best Printer

This all-in-one printer is the best printer I ever owned. It has so many features that I do not know where to start. The printing is so clear and sharp. Every document looks great. The printer is very compact and attractive looking. I like the feature where the paper loads and exits from the front. Very convenient. I also like the display panel and the available options.
My next printer will also be a Brother.

WORST purchase ever

This printer is nothing but a piece of junk, It is very cheaply constructed, The paper feed is a real mess, the scaner cover is not attached as it should be

Exceeded my expectations

Went shopping for an inexpensive B/W laser printer, similar to the Brother laser printer that I purchased some years back for use with my home computer--general purpose B/W printing.
Found this model on sale for less than most B/W laser printers. Already have a high quality color inkjet photo printer at home, but I needed a printer for my out-of-town business location, to print expense reports, and letters wirelessly from a laptop. This all-in-one does that and much more. Color photo print quality is outstanding! Scan, copying and duplex printing are all time/money savers. Love the separate color ink cartridges--very economical and sensible. Footprint is small--fits on a small shelf in my office and I can use the laptop anywhere--no need for wired connections. Outstanding print quality--I would recommend this model to anyone and it's backed by Brother reliability and service!
