40 litre sensor can

I am finally pleased with the 40 litre sensor can...the first one I bought worked okay initially, then started opening on its own and I would find the can open for extended periods of time. After "re-booting" (taking the battery out, etc.) and it still didn't operate correctly, I sent the can back. This second can (I'm not sure if I was sent a brand new one or if my original can was worked on; I think i was sent a new can), seems to be working fine for the past few weeks. I love the sensor can!

After using the new trash can for a few months I can say it is a major improvement over my last trash can. However I don't love the can. I have trouble getting the can to stay open for the longer jobs and sometimes it just stays open when you don't expect it to. I think I would like a step can better, the one that has the little red slide that you can choose to leave it open. For me this was a major purchase and I opted to buy trash bags in bulk so to change now would be really expensive. The can does look nice in my kitchen just not crazy about the functionality.

We love this trash can; but we loved the one we had before, which died after three months, so we are holding our final judgment until we get to at least the two-year point. The one we had before was 55-litre, and the slimmer, more streamlined look of this one is very pleasing.

Great design and functionality - poor reliability in long term

I have 3 of these and they are great on all counts, except for long term reliability as they all broke down within 2 years. And they were not even heavily used as one of them is on a vacation home. In the course of 2 years the 3 cans cans broke down. For 2 of them I had to get a new motor from customer service and replace it. For another can, after another motor replacement did not solve the problem, I had to have a whole can shipped from customer service (and I had to lug/ship the broken one back). Customer service is great and the warranty is 5 years but 3 out of 3 failing in 2 years is too much, I wish these cans lasted longer...
