Low end phone, low end features, below low end performance.

I've had a Lumia 635 for about a year now and it's been a constant struggle to use daily. First of all, people need to understand that MOST of the Lumia 635's have only 512MB of RAM and only a handful of places sell 1GB RAM models. Proponents of the platform will point out that Windows Phone is better optimized that Android and this has been true since Windows Phone 7 came out. In fact, performance was one of the things that drew me to my original LG Quantum and kept me buying Windows Phones. However, this is really no longer the case.
512MB of RAM already cripples the amount of available apps for a platform suffering a very real app-gap AND it causes performance to take a very noticeable drop. Even built in Windows Phone apps like MSN Sports, MSN News and MSN Weather will often consume so much RAM that they will cause the dreaded "RESUMING..." screen by themselves. The camera app is another prime example where the low amount of RAM causes problems as it frequently takes 15-20 seconds to load and will often simply crash. Crashing was a daily refrain with this phone. Facebook would crash at least once a day, built in apps would crash with alarming regularity, and CPU intensive apps would crash more often than they would work.
There was also simply no excuse for the poor quality camera included with this phone. In low light and incandescent light situations, the photos come out extremely grainy - we're talking old school webcam style grain. This is because the phone lacks a flash and compensates by adjusting the photo to compensate. In bright light and outdoor situations, photos end up washed out. No front facing camera makes absolutely no sense when the phones come bundled with Skype. However, given how low quality the primary camera is I can't imagine a secondary front camera would have been worth using even had it been included.
The sad fact is for about $20 more at most prepaid places, one can find better Android phones that are more mid-range than low-end. Although I've been using Windows Phones since 2010, I finally called it quits after struggling with this phone and watching devs abandon the platform in droves. After a year with this phone, I want a flagship phone with relevant apps - something Microsoft hasn't offered in several years and there's still no real flagship device or plan to bring developers to the platform in sight.
Pros: Business, Personal

Do not buy this junk. Apps quit randomly about 50% of the time. Google Maps doesn't load. There is an app, Microsoft Maps, that gave me wrong directions and I got lost since I just moved to this city. Half the memory is full with pre-installed apps that you can't uninstall. The camera is disappointing. The phones casing is so smooth that it slips out of your hand just pulling it out of your pocket. You can't send or receive pictures in text messages, have to send them over FB messenger. The music player sometimes can't read a simple mp3 file and closes itself. Sometimes when sending a text the phone restarts itself and then doesn't show that text in the conversation so you think it didn't send but it did so you end up sending it to the person again. I could keep going with a list of problems this phone has given me in the 4 months I've owned it but I'm done putting anymore time into it. Getting an iPhone tomorrow!

Tried EVERYTHING. iCloud, Skype, Outlook, Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook to sync contacts between the Lumia and my life. It's ridiculous, I know. It just doesn't work.
