This is an extremely frustrating phone

This phone irritates the heck out of me. It restarts and crashes all the time, apps freeze quite often, and my data and internet aren't working with my phone. This was a great phone at first, but it deteriorated very quickly.
Pros: Personal
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Received Christmas gift, Lumia 635 on 1/31/2015. Cricket wireless with 10G/mo. data and hotspot feature. In two days I used the 10G - at first, hotspot wouldn't work. Had to update both firmware and software. Cricket charged over 10GB data to update firmware and software just to get the phone up to the latest so hotspot would work, plus the hotspot worked great on the second day, after the updates. Awesome phone, but Cricket can jump over a cliff for charging me for firmware/software updates to make phone work.........

This phone does the trick, but looking to upgrade soon

I've had the 635 for about a year now, and I can say its durable. However the windows operating system is glitchy, inconsistent and has a lack of useful apps. I switched from the iPhone 4 because it didn't have a SIM card, leaving the free 635 as a good option.
Pros: Durability, works incredibly well with my windows 8 laptop as far as calendar and email, the camera is relatively clear if focused and lit with light properly, I've had no issues with the phone quality like dropped calls, static, etc. Cortana's reminders are very helpful; I can say "Remind me to finish genetics homework when I get home" or "remind me to print lab report when I get to school" and it works every single time. That is huge for me, when I can tend to be forgetful. I also have the option to delay the reminder however long I choose, like an hour or so.
Cons: The windows 8 glitch is real and sometimes plagues my phone. I do not have access to apps that were available to me on google play/app store, which is frustrating. I understand the windows platform is expanding, but I much prefer non-windows phones. The notification system is one dimensional and basically useless for apps like Facebook; when notifications are tapped on, it just takes me to my timeline, not to that specific comment or status, etc. Not that big an issue, just not used to that coming from iOS.
Overall the phone is a tank and does the trick, but is not without its flaws, especially compared to flagship android and apple phones. Its a simple investment if you are looking for a phone one level above a flip phone.
Pros: Personal

Great phone, only complaint is the difficulty of accessing SD card pictures. Fix that and it would be a 5.

I "Upgraded" from a more expensive HTC

I had a fancier HTC 8x with supposedly better specs. When the screen broke and I wasn't eligible for an upgrade I bought the 635 thinking I'd limp by with it until the HTC was repaired or I was eligible for an upgrade. But the 635 was so good, even after the HTC was fixed I stuck with the 635. It's snappy and works like a charm all the time. I was able to expand memory and with the Developer's Preview installed, feels like a much more expensive phone. The only thing I miss is having a flash and better camera but the 635 has been a joy to use in every way. And of course, I love the Nokia Apps.
Pros: Personal, Business
