This does not come with a true HEPA filter.

I did not realize the difference between a true HEPA filter and a "HEPA-type" filter until I purchased this air purifier. The filter it comes with does not help my allergies as much as my other air purifier with a true HEPA filter. If you have serious allergies, I suggest ordering a purifier that comes with a true HEPA filter, or ordering the replacement true HEPA filter along with this unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had this for awhile now and have had no issues with it. I run it non-stop in my basement to keep the air fresh.

I bought the Holmes Mini-Tower Air Purifier over two years ago. I've used it at home (in master bedroom close to our little one's crib and in our middle son's room), in my small business office, and in a classroom, and it works great! I've never had a problem with it. It's super easy to use, easy to wash the pre-filter, and even at the highest speed it only makes a quiet, somewhat calming, sound that puts my little one to sleep fast. Planning on buying another one to keep in my other son's room. It's a great buy for the price!

I received this as a gift 4 yrs ago and it has set in a closet until 2 months ago. I live in an older (1890s) home that has a dust attraction. After using for a month the dust was a lot less in that room. I also have an indoor cat and I don't feel as if I have so many Hairballs! Works great so far.

I have had this purifier for years. I bought this one for a friend. She has had allergy symptoms and the air was stale. This has made a big difference. Would definitely recommend.

I Bought my purifier my be 1mth.ago and I don't have any dust rings.
As a matter a fact This is the Best I have Bought Yes and it was in my Garage were the Dog has his Boule movement's and I have to say I don't have a problem with SMELLS AND DIRT I'M GOING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE THIS SUMMER IN FACT.

I had an older unit, which I replaced with this new one. The new one works great so far, and filters out more dust than the old one.
