We are very pleased with this ice cream and gelato maker. We were previously using a traditional electric maker with ice bucket and don't miss the mess. We can now make ice cream at any time with no worry about buying ice and ice cream salt plus we don't have to worry about the time of day or weather conditions. This Cuisinart ice cream maker makes the perfect amount for our family of five. Also, no need to worry about how much mix you prepare because making a second batch is super simple (empty the ice cream, rinse the parts, refill, and start making another batch).

The first time we used this ice cream maker, it was very loud, and I was worried about if this was a good choice.. Subsequent times have not been as loud, so maybe it was just a first-time use thing? Either way, the ice cream recipe for vanilla custard-based ice cream is wonderful and has won over my entire family. We have not yet tried other recipes, but are looking forward to do so.
One suggestion I have for improvement: Make sure the recipes provide accurate information for a single batch. Our experience with making the vanilla custard based recipe is that it is more than a single batch, but not quite enough for a full two batches. It would be nice if the recipe book provided the ingredients for a single batch so that it would be easier to scale up when planning a family event.

Machine works quite well for the price point and convenience of having a compressor. I like that there is a bucket with a handle to remove the finished ice cream. The ice cream comes out softer and the process time is longer than my previous machine (which broke down and is no longer made) but i would recommend it buying it.
