Great purchase for my family as we become more attentive to our health! We don't deny our sweet tooth. We are intentional about how we satisfy our sweet tooth. Making our own ice cream has been fun and improved our health.
Very easy to use and makes good gelato, but I have a couple of complaints. First, the lid is a bit flimsy. The flap to add ingredients has already fallen off a few times due to the ice cream being pushed up against it and popping it off. My other complaint is that it says it's for 1.5 quart, and it also says not to fill the canister above the top rung of the paddle. But the first few times when I poured in only a quart of gelato mix, it went over this top rung. Since the directions say not to fill past that point, I don't know how this would make 1.5 quarts when 1 quart does not fit. I have to make the gelato in pint batches, which is a pain. Also, most recipes call for churning for 30 minutes, but as mentioned before, with this machine the gelato starts bunching up to one side of the paddle and pushes up against the lid after only 20 minutes.
We have made four batches of simple ice cream so far, with no mishaps. The instructions that come with the maker are clear and easy to understand. The ice cream freezes up faster than the recipes call for, but we are fine with a 30 minute rather than 50 freeze cycle.
Works well, but unfortunately when using proper ingredient measurements, the ice cream tends to expand and seep over the lid. Additionally, when solid ingredients, such as Reece’s cup pieces, are added during the last ten minutes, the machine stops and we’re required to manually mix in a bowl.
Great machine makes wonderful gelato! Have made 3 different recipes so far, and all are great. I wish it weren't so heavy, but a lighter machine would not have the power this on has.
The only detriment to this appliance is the very limited capacity. 1.5 quarts maximum seriously limits the usefulness. The product it makes is excellent and it is very easy to use. One of our favorites is cherry vanilla ice cream with crushed walnuts. We use the strawberry recipe but substitute chopped cherries and add a handful of walnut pieces. 1.5 quarts of this just aint enough.
