I've been using this to make sugar free ice cream (using Bochasweet instead of sugar for my diabetic husband). It works fantastic with 2 cups whipping cream, 3/4 cup bochasweet, 1 cup whole milk, and about a tbsp of vanilla. I let it go the full 60 minutes. It is to die for.
I love the ice cream and Gelato we've created with this machine! It's so simple and tastes delicious every time. The only complaint is that the recipes barely fit and some tend to overfill the basket toward the end of freezing. Due to this, I tend to add in extra mix-ins after it's finished. We always put the ice cream into containers and straight to the freezer for a couple hours prior to eating.
I used my last Cuisinart ice cream maker (the one where you put the bowl into the freezer) so much that it finally died. So I upgraded to this one. I love it! Not having to freeze the bowl overnight means 1) I don't have to plan so far in advance; 2) I don't have to make room in my freezer for the bowl; and 3) I can make multiple batches, different flavors, on the same day! So easy to use, such delicious ice cream. Very happy.
Loved this gift from my family. I had the old kind where you had to freeze the canister and could only make one batch before you had to freeze the canister again for 12 hours. Now I can multiple batches of ice cream in a day. We are now regularly keeping 6 kinds in the freezer at once. We also prefer our ice creams less creamy-- so I use half-and-half for a "snow" like texture that is also fantastic.
We’ve struggled to make vegan ice cream in an ice cream maker because the vegan ice cream base is thick and instantly freezes. Since purchasing our Cuisinart ice cream maker we’ve only made delicious and perfectly churned vegan ice cream. Thank you!
