7 years strong!

I am so darned proud of my Danby washing machine! Bought it 7 years ago and it's still going strong! I have used it at least once a week since I bought it. I live in an apartment and it's perfect for my needs! I use it for everything but my bed linens. It stopped working last week and I was so sad. I was prepared to pay to have it fixed or to purchase a new machine. I pushed down on the lid and it started working again (lid switch wasn't activating for some reason). Thrilled it's still kickin' and doing a fantastic job keeping my clothes fresh and clean.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for small spaces, we use it for a few loads a week. Absolutely paid for itself since we don't have to go to a laundromat anymore

This washer was the perfect size for my tiny kitchen. Rolls over to my sink and attaches with little effort!

Danby 11Lbs. Clothes Washer
on July 22, 2016

For its size it is a really nice machine. However, there is buzzing sound created by the motor fan hitting some black foam pieces stuck to the inside of the machine. Because of the seemingly deliberate placement, they appear to be there for a reason so I did not remove them. There were no instructions I could find suggesting they should be removed.
There is an excessive amount of tub movement. (Watch videos on YouTube. Mine does the same thing.) The tub and its containment mechanism move around like no top-load washer I have ever seen growing up. Things have changed over the years and maybe this is normal these days.
I greatly disapprove of the "North/South" wheels! I need to be able to move this machine easily and be able to turn it as well to protect the hoses and power cord. I alternatively purchased a low-profile dolly designed to support 280Lbs. I lock the wheels when it is positioned in front of the sink. With the sound plate installed, the machine makes no more noise than it did on the floor without the sound plate. However, this could be avoided if low-profile appliance casters where provided instead of the "North/South" wheels. My portable dishware, from a different supplier, uses these style casters with great results!
The machine is otherwise easy to use. The icons on the user display panel are completely foreign to Americans and bear no relevance to us. One could not tell what a hard wash is from a normal wash with the current icon set. At least the user manual does decode these icons. However, more intuitive icons would work for us American users. Better still, just print the words and dump the icons!
The display panel to the right of the power button gets hot with more than one load. Not so hot one would burn themselves but, it does seem odd that it gets hotter than the rest of the machine's control panel to the left of the power button.
Hose lengths for American sink hook-up are all wrong. The sink hose that provides water to the machine is about 2 feet longer than it needs to be. The outlet hose is about 18 inches shorter than it needs to be.
The outlet hose hanger is to small to hook over the 4 inch wide sink edge. 2 inches for the sink and another 2 inches of counter in front of the sink edge for a total of 4 inches. This means I have to use one of the wire twists to anchor the outlet hose to the inlet hose at the adapter so the outlet hose does not slide out of the sink basin area. A longer outlet hose and better method to temporarily affix it to the sink would be a great improvement!
The machine does wash our clothes well. We mix the hot and cold water at the sink for warm water washing. We double check it as the machine fills to be sure it is not to hot.
The best unexpected plus of owning this machine is the fact that we have been able to turn our dryer temperature down for all garment types and cut the dryer time in half! This is thanks to the clothes coming out of the spin cycle almost dry. Yes, they are noticeably damp but!, a lot dryer than any other machine we have used.
We are happy with the machine but, we would only show people how the machine hooks-up and works. They could then decide for themselves if it works for them. I cannot recommend the machine because of the above stated issues I have with it. I am also disappointed that there is no extended warranty in the United States. This is why I rated the warranty so low.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This machine has saved my life. I do 3 big loads a week and it cleans like a charm. With the different water settings you always get it right. I just bought one for my daughter who has a 2 year old and is always in the laundry room. This machine pays for itself. Large loads..... towels, sheets..... and the spin cycle is strong enough that the clothes dry in a couple of hours! this machine is priceless....

Excellent portable washer

This is one of the BEST portable washers out there. Sad to see it discontinued. Works great for me. Saved me 100$'s if not more by NOT going to the Laundromat-dry my clothes on a rack in my living room.

I had this washer just a little over a year it seemed to skip and stop working and should of had someone come before the one year warranty was up but never thought anything of it, just thought maybe the clothes was throwing it off balance but now it doesn't spin at all and the warranty is up
