Ridiculously overpriced

The price that Sony asks for this charger is at least double what is reasonable for a battery charger of this sort. This really turns me off about buying the camera. I think that Sony ought to have more sense than to try and gouge customers on accessories like this charger. It is an old, old strategy, that has been around for virtually forever, but consumers are getting smarter and are increasingly annoyed by this practice. Sony assumes that they do not lose camera sales through this practice, but they don't really have any way to know this. My bet is that the typical consumer takes a careful look at the cost of the accessories and that it influences their decision on what camera to buy. Sony has not yet figured out that consumers do this, and this might be part of the reason that they are struggling, whereas other manufacturers that do not do this kind of thing are faring much better.
What's great about it: it charges battery
What's not so great: it is insanely expensive
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Battery Charger

This is a very poor battery charger. The charger light is useless. It took over 4 hours to charge a battery that was at 45% power. Going back. Can not and WILL not recommend this charger. Totally useless.

charger sucks

hugely disappointed. i've been trying to figure out why my battery wasn't holding a charge and began to wonder if there was some sort of slow drain from the camera. finally my battery stopped charging and i realize it's the dock and not the battery. how can such a simple device that's only a few months old qrap out like this? totally unacceptable for Sony to make such a proprietary device that 1) is qrap and 2) cost 60 bucks to replace. i'll be looking for a new camera from a different brand next time.

My battery charger quit after 2 months. When placed into the charger my battery doesn't charge. It doesn't matter which outlet it is plugged into, the battery will charge in a friends charger, it isn't the battery. I have already called (at my expense) the Sony support number and they have asked me to send the charger to back (at my expense). A 10 day turn around time is unacceptable. This lack of support is why Sony isn't Apple.

What's not so great: Doesn't work
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
