The best picture is a Sony picture, but the integration with the Sony sound bar is poor because it does not hold the settings. In fact, many settings are lost when shifting from TV to Internet. The Internet synchronization with the sound is poor coming through the sound bar. Instructions for how to connect the sound bar were useless. It was trial and error. Also, the TV loses its settings. You turn the TV off in the evening, and when you turn it on in the morning it opens in the Discover (Internet) mode. When you switch to TV, it has lost the HDMI setting, so that has to be re-set. And the sound has to be re-synced. I have an older Sony with Internet capability, and it works better than this new one. There are more setting to control the TV on the old one than this new one. No settings are lost. It is two years old. The only reason I did not return the TV - great picture!

Hello GerryM! Thank you for this feedback, in order to have the television turn on to a specific source it is necessary to change the following option through the menu:
1 - Select SETTINGS 2 -Select EXTERNAL INPUTS 3 - Select CUSTOMIZE TV KEY and select the HDMI source to use as default
As per the issue with the sound bar we would like to review this issue further, please email us at socialsupport@am.sony.com and include your contact information, model, serial number with a description of the issue you are experiencing with this unit.

Amazing with just one flaw

This tv is amazing just purchased this yesterday at my local store and upon turning it on I did have to make some adjustments to make the picture look great then the standard picture settings its shipped out with. Amazing picture quality and the set up was quick and easy. My only gripe I have on this tv is when I game. I game with my Xbox One and I notice quite a lot of input lag where I am playing a basketball game and as I'm running down the court the picture sort of lags next second I am out of bounds or during my shot the picture does a quick second input lag and I can't get my shot off. Im not sure if this is just a setting that needs to be made such as a "game mode" but I haven't been able to figure it out so far. But the picture quality is amazing as I have had Samsung Tv's in the past and if I can't get this fixed soon I might have to return it and stay with samsung. If your not a gamer and you use this for movies and watching tv it really does a great job up converting to almost 4k quality. I also use this for my PC and I am amazed that this does have better picture quality when a PC is hooked up to it compared to Samsung tv's i Have had in the past. Overall I give this TV a 9/10. Sony is Amazing once its correctly tuned and set up. Not sure why they don't set it up from factory to have best possible picture and settings fresh out the box.

Hi DasGummiBarchen, Good to know that you are happy with your purchase! Thank you for choosing Sony!
I've had this TV for about 8 months now, it is fantastic. The picture is sharp and you can notice the upscaling. The android TV features are quite excellent. I love the apps available.

Doesn't upscale anything
on July 1, 2015

I bought this tv with the understanding that it will "upscale everything" as you see all over their box and specs listings, but it upscales nothing. After talking to a sony rep via support they told me it will only upscale current 4k content, which doesn't need upscaling if it is Native 4K so that seems rather useless. I wouldn't have been too bad if the non upscaled 1080i cable broadcasts I was getting weren't absolutely hideous. My samsung F7100 had a much better picture than this and there was no upscale promised. Also, My touchpad remote paired once and then never again, ( I tried pairing via volume down and voice and it still didn't work). Btw, the playstation app isn't available until summer apparently and the Netflix will stream in 4K but you won't get a 4K category so you just have to know all of Netflix's 4k content. Sony if you're going to promise upscaling then follow through this is the first and last tv I will buy from Sony.

Average purchase

Always a Sony TV fan. After seeing the specifications and highlight I felt time for a new one. After buying I realized even though it's been advertised PS3 streaming directly to TV but there is no option to choose it or no software. Also it's a 3d TV but doesn't come with glasses. Glasses can cost at least $40 if not more. So right out of the box you lose 2 best features that TV has to provide. If TV being bought for only 4k viewing then excellent choice. But again if it's just for 4K there are other tvs in the market which are cheaper like Sharp. Overall average purchase

Hello rbn091 ! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, the streaming of PS3 games will be done through the application called PlayStation Now which will be accessed through the application option through the HOME menu of your television once it becomes available through a firmware update; for more information, please visit the link below. We will forward your feedback regarding the accessories to the proper department for further review.
Sony does it again. We love our new TV. The color is amazing. The bigger screen makes it easier to read the news scrolls and sport scores.

Wonderful Picture ... but not in 3D?!

We bought the XBR 55x850C to replace a Sony, which we had been very happy with... but wanted the "4K" experience, and to keep compatibility with our 3D Blu-Ray collection (the kids love the 3D!)
The upscaled picture quality is actually very good indeed (better than I had cynically expected) The streaming and Apps are good (but we don't really use them to be honest) Overall, a great TV / Movie watching experience.
However, we have not been able to get the 3D working at all. Despite reading many (many) forum posts, blogs, experimenting etc. we cannot find a definitive solution as to why! It could be that the 850C is just not "ready" yet, and a new download will suddenly fix it. Certainly a shame.
If Sony could just publish a definitive "buy these glasses" and "check these settings" statement so we could enjoy our 3D, we would gladly add back the additional star for this review :-)
