Quietest, most thorough dishwasher I've ever had
on February 21, 2022
Posted by: Dave Starns
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros:
1. Super quiet. I never thought having a quiet dishwasher would even be something I'd appreciate, but now that I have one, I do. It's nice to start a load after dinner and not have to ignore the sound of a dishwasher while I'm watching TV or talking with company. I sometimes actually have to bend down and put my ear against the unit to make sure that it’s running.
2. Marvelously thorough. I've probably owned (or rented) 14 or 15 dishwashers in my life, and I've never had one that gets dishes so completely clean. I don't worry about pre-soaking or even rinsing out anything anymore; I just scrape the big stuff into the garbage then put the plate or bowl straight into the dishwasher, and it comes out super clean and shiny. And though I know it sounds unlikely, this unit also seems to take better advantage of the Rinse spot-free fluid; glasses and cups are shiny and actually spot-free.
3. Solidly constructed. This thing is really well put together. I especially love the stainless steel interior.
Cons:
1. It's a little more difficult to load than most of the dishwashers I've had. The angle of—and distance between—the spines would be fine if I were only washing a bunch of plates, cups and saucers, but since there are only two of us, the pot/mixing bowl/casserole pan-to-plate ratio is higher, and fitting in larger or unusually-shaped pieces requires more creativity and planning than with your average dishwasher.
2. Programming it isn’t always easy. At first, I thought it was broken (and maybe there is something wrong with my particular unit), because when I turn it on, the “Auto” wash light flashes continually, and I can’t choose any other options; when it’s doing this, pushing “Start” won’t actually make it run. I’ve learned that I have to hold the button down for a few seconds to reset everything before choosing the wash mode and/or features I want. Even doing this, I’ve still been unable to turn off the “Sanitize” drying mode that I used for a particular wash a few weeks ago, so I have to be very careful to not put anything plastic on the bottom level, and I avoid including plastic that I know might melt easily (like those reusable takeout containers), even on the top.
Overall:
Even with those drawbacks, this is by far the finest dishwasher I’ve ever used, and I would not hesitate to buy exactly the same model again (though I’d be a little more likely to go for the newer model that shoots a little light on the floor to let me know when it’s running).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous dishwasher was a workhorse. When the time came to replace it, Bosch was te recommended replacement. It certainly has lived up to it's reputation. It is efficient and does a great job. Couldn't be more pleases.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dishes come out clean, but in order to reduce the wetness, you have to use the sanitize function or add rinse aid. I do appreciate how quiet it is.

This model runs so quietly it needs to have a light on the front to tell you when it has finished it's cycle.

So quiet, it’s hard to tell that it is running

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this dishwasher based on a Consumer Reports recommendation and couldn't be happier. The machine is so quiet while running g, the water going down the drain is the loudest thing we hear.

SHX3AR75UC Bosch Dishwasher - So far so good
on February 27, 2022
Posted by: New Jerseyan
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a Bosch dishwasher 20 years ago that needed lots of expensive reapirs through its life so I replaced it with a Sears brand that self destructed after 6-7 years. Consumer Reports and other reviewers raved about this model Bosch, and due to supply chain issues when shopping empty stores, I jumped at the chance when I found one of these Bosch models in stock at a small, local, appliance retailer. We wanted the one with a towel rack - usually $200-300 more than ones without (crazy but all the manufactureres price their little towel rack this way). This Bosch dishwasher cleans the dishes really well and also dries them very well on the extended drying-high heat programming. Permanent settings programming is not intuitive and you must read the manual a few times. The dish racks do not seem very heavy duty and don't roll out as easily as our old one and the removable utensil baskets divisions are too small for our larger dinner fork handles (our flatware dinner fork handles are larger than most styles, but I had to make the comaprtments larger with a roto-tool on one of the 2 baskets just to accomodate our dinner forks. It is tecnically quieter running than our old one as far as total decibels (as rated by Consumer Reports) but the water splashing sounds are louder through the door face that is exposed to your kitchen; however, the motor sounds that eminate from underneath the unit are quieter. I really don't care much about the DBs/loudness since we own a 2 story house and run it late at night but apartment owners might. Overall, we are very happy with this purchase so far, the features that matter to us (cleaning & drying power, plus a stainless steel finish with a towel rack) are all there for a reasonable price. It has easliy accessible drain filters, which was the problem with the design of our old one. The main test for us, reliability, will come after about 5 years of use.
