I've bought 3 dishwashers before this, my first Bosch. All were bought online. The Bosch taught me a pricey lesson about seeing the unit in person. First, the dashboard has menus for which you use arrows (!) to scroll through menus. You don't press a button once and then start. Nooooo. First you turn it on, then you use arrows to select your cycle then press start. Previously, I would open the door, press one cycle button and press start. Yuck. Then it took me 30 minutes to figure out how to make the beep noises stop for rinse aid level (what?!) and cycle complete (what?!) and another 20 minutes to figure out out to get the flashing "active" light to stop so I could start the load (why?!). I have accidentally activated the active flashing button several times so, yay, super glad to have this test of patience in my life. It *still* beeps when you turn it on which I also hate. By the way if that active light is flashing, you can't change anything: cycle settings, delayed start or sanitize. The only way to fix that is to hold the start button for 3-5 seconds, turn it off and then turn it back on again. And I have a Masters in Computer Information Systems and 20 yrs in equipment manufacturing so I kinda think I should be able to use this machine without frustratedly parsing instructions. Next we move on to the door. Unbelievably stiff. Literally has to be pushed down all the way to open or it just closes itself, ka-thunk. So there will be no one-handed opening of the door to pop one glass into the top rack or dropping a spoon into the silverware rack quickly. You have to open it allll the way first and like I said it's super stiff and sluggish. The silverware rack has two settings, the sectioned lid in the down position or entirelt flipped up across all the sections. My Kenmore had 6 flip-up lids. So if you want to just pop a chunky spoon there that doesn't fit in the individual slot, the whole lid has to be lifted and then the rest of your silverware lays in clumps which means they don't get thoroughly cleaned. Finally, the inside is quite quite quite small. Seriously. It fits way less dishes than our previous dishwasher for the same exterior dimensions. First chance I get, I'm removing this and trying something else. Kenmore has been the way to go in the past. Yes this Bosch a little more quiet. That's all I can say that's positive. I think you should be able to press a button and voila it works without going to dishwasher instruction academy. Scrolling with arrows while reading the users guide is unfair to the consumer. And I hate that door and for heavens sake friends, figure out what inside dimensions you want or you'll be sorry. This cost a lot of money and for that price other brands have better electronics, better door movement, and better capacity. So frustrated.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cleans great, but....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super cleaning, sparkling dishes, but because of the rack congfiguration, holds about 35% less than my old KitchenAid. Operation is quiet, BUT when it is pumping out waste water, it is very loud.

Quiet and effective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new Bosch dishwasher. It is supremely QUIET and effective. It has a long cycle of 90 mins, but if I start it before bedtime I will wake up to clean sterilized dishes, and it will not disturb my sleep in any way!

It's too quiet!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Bosch dishwasher gets my dishes spotless. It is easy to use. However, because it is so quiet, I cannot tell when it is actually running. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the buttons on the outside rather than hidden even though it looks beautiful with the smooth panel. I am not crazy about the way the bottom basket loads.

Wish we could get back our old Maytag with new racks. The Bosch soap dispenser doesn't lock, and the contralto works when it wants to, or may lock up for no reason. Owner access attempts failed until warranty expired. Can't wait to give this one away, and get something that works.

Does excellent job cleaning and drying. My only comment.. the finish buzzer goes in too long don't need it to go on more than twice.
