Great phone but breaks easily

This phone has cost me 600 in repairs. The screen is very fragile. It is amazing but get a hybrid case for it! Especially if you drop phones or jog/run. Pressure cracks happen easily.

Everything I can need and want in a phone!

My Lumia 1520 is simply amazing! Sure I get teased by friends naming it "Godzilla" but I'm fine with that. A massive screen doesn't make me squint or zoom in just to read something online. The camera is perfect! Especially in really dark areas or night time, if you know how to use a camera, this is as good as it gets, except for the 1020 of course! I have no complaints about my Lumia 1520, especially can't complain when I've dropped it a couple times and nothing happened! Could it be made out of "Godzilla" skin?

I was looking for a bigger phone and at the beginning of summer I kept looking at the Lumia 1520. I finally broke down and got it and absolutely love it. The only issue I have is that there are a great deal of apps I cannot get on this network but other than that this phone is wonderful!

Best phone I have ever used

Let me start off by saying that I am a Nokia fan. I used the Nokia N79 as my daily driver for quite some time then used the E71 briefly before returning to the N79. This was around the time that the first iPhone surfaced.
Then I used the N8 for quite some time and that was a revelation into how good a smartphone could be as a complete package. Media? Excellent. Camera? Excellent. Multitasking? Excellent? Expandable? Yes. Internet? Not so much as Symbian was not really designed for the internet.
Moving to the Lumia 900 was an average experience before transitioning to the far superior L920 a year later. In all this time I had used Android devices and iPhones. If Microsoft were to terminate all Windows Phone (Windows?) devices, I would grudgingly move to an iPhone. Android? Never.
Then came the L1520 in white which I used for 8 months before getting the L1520.3 in yellow with US LTE support which is my current daily driver. Best phone I have ever used bar none. No need to list all that it can do as others have already done that. All I can say is that when someone whips out an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, my only beef is that I do not have access to the vast library of apps that he/she does. That aside, I sit back knowing that I have a device whose hardware handily outperforms anything out there.
With 8.1 and Denim quickly approaching, software parity with other platforms has been reached and exceeded in some places. Windows 10, I am waiting for you. Nokia, you will be missed.

The perfect productivity tool

From the 20MP camera with Carl Zeiss Lenses and PureView to Cortana, this device has it all. At work, I've used it to largely replace my tablet and laptop because of Microsoft Office and the gorgeous 6" screen. With Here Maps, I have an amazing navigator, that because of local storage, doesn't use my data package. The camera alone is on par with many DSLRs. Add the fact that it is expandable, and you have what would otherwise be a perfect device. And then you add Cortana who honestly makes life easier. If I get a notifications in my email about upcoming business trips, Cortana adds them without me having to add them manually. Reminders based on people, not just locations or times. Lastly, there is the build quality. WOW. Solid, sleek. This is a device that I can let my young daughter play with and not worry about her breaking it by accidentally dropping it somewhere. Lastly, a 3400 mAh battery. I can go up to 2 days between charges.

Cadillac of smart phones!!!

I've had my Lumia 1520 for a year now and had no problems at all. The one thing I like about Windows Phone is how easy it is to operate and how easily it sync's with all my stuff. If you use a Windows computer at home or work the Windows Phone is a perfect match. I've been around computer's since D.O.S compared to the iPhone or a Android this is very easy to use. This phone has a 6 inch screen but I had no problem getting used to and its my daily driver.

See the forest AND the trees

The Lumia 1520 is the best phone I've ever owned. I've had 2 iPhones and 5 different Android phones and this is by far my favorite phone and operating system.
Operating System Windows Phone sits somewhere between iOS and Android. It's easy to use like iOS, but has some of the customizability of Android, but without the security issues Android users have to deal with. Unlike iOS, it's more open and supports standards that don't tie you into an ecosystem that you feel you can never get out of. In addition, Cortana is simply the best digital assistant on any platform. I use this feature all the time, especially when texting and creating appointments/reminders. After all, who really likes to type on a tiny keyboard? Windows phone also has many undocumented features--like an OCR scanner built in. Just scan a document and Windows Phone will convert it to text for use in a document or spreadsheet. Lastly, don't let anyone tell you there aren't any apps for Windows Phone. It's just not true. There are tons of apps.
Hardware Nokia, now Microsoft, has always been known for quality builds. The Lumia 1520 is no exception. No 6 inch phone would ever be considered a featherweight, but I've been very pleased with how light it is. At the same time, a few drops on concrete have proven it can take some abuse. Other than a few small scratches, my 1520 has come through with flying colors. Nokia also included a couple of features you don't often get in flagship phones--a dedicated camera button and a microSD slot to increase storage by up to 128GB! Some of the other manufacturers force you to upgrade the phone if you run out of room for you pictures and music. And Windows Phone's seamless integration with OneDrive gives you even more storage.
Camera Nokia knows how to make cell phone cameras. They've been making the best cameras on the market for years. The 20mp camera on the 1520 is phenomenal. And the 20 megapixels give me the ability to zoom/crop when I can't get as close to the action as I want to.
Screen The 6", full HD, IPS LCD on this device rocks!! Nokia's Clearblack technology means that blacks look black and colors pop. You get most of the advantages of an AMOLED screen without the washed out whites. Also, I've never had a screen that is readable in direct sunlight--at least not until the 1520.
Conclusion The size of the Lumia 1520 is not for everyone. It's a large device. But don't see that as a disadvantage. See more of a web page without zooming. Enjoy movies without having to wonder what you're missing. Show your friends the great pictures you took--with the 1520 they get to see the forest AND the trees.
