Best Camera I've Ever Owned

Of all the cameras I've owned thru the years this is by far the best. I was looking for a full featured camera that was smaller and lighter. I was having trouble with the full sized DSLRs because of the bulk and weight. This one solved all my problems in one fell swoop. The image quality is top notch and since I had already purchased several e-mount lenses, they were transferable to this one. That's a big plus. Overall, I think this may well be the last camera I ever buy. I haven't begun to use all its features and am thoroughly satisfied with my photographic results.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great camera but

I bought this camera along with the Zeiss 24-70 4.0 lens. Really good match. I have since then purchased the Zeiss 55 1.8 lens and the 90mm Macro. The 24-70 is still my favorite.
So here is the "but". I only gave 4 stars rather than 5 due the RAW lossy compression which at times causes artifacting and information loss. I would rather have a large true RAW file than a compressed one. I am hoping that Sony will offer this choice either through a firmware update or an override via a playmemory app. I am interested in the 42 mp a7RII, but I cannot see spending over 3 grand on something that has the lossy compression problems mentioned.

Hi drape,
We're very happy to know that you love using the camera. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We appreciate this and will forward it to the right department for future product developments.
I bought this camera a month ago to use in a photography class. Once I learned the camera, it was off to the races. My previous cameras were SLR’s and I wanted to get back into photography after years away. The newer technology blew me away. I looked into a DSLR but my friend ( and the class teacher) said going to a full frame mirrorless camera was the way to go and Sony had the best technology. It was a wise choice and I couldn’t be happier.

Hi Ran1967, Awesome! Thanks for the cool review! We're glad that you're having an enjoyable experience with our ILCE7B camera. Thanks for choosing Sony. -Sam
My Canon and Nikons both have superior processing software post sensor and both are color truer. I was disappointed in this full frame..sensor is okay but Sony is way behind in all the other attributes. I actually shoot a suite of Canon FD film lenses via adapters manually to make the workarounds work. Your camera is behind Canon and my nikon d4 by a mile..I can make it work to max the sensor but a lot of workarounds are necessary. You know how to make sensors but not how to process or autofocus or have true color nearly as well as either Canon or Nikon.
I bought this camera in April after purchasing 2 Canons and returning them. I explained to the salesman that I shoot sunrises and sunsets, and I need a camera that is good in low light(which the Canons were not) and the a7 filled the bill.I'm very happy with this camera.

This is a compact and versitile camera with an excellent quality. Everything has worked as promise. Battery life could be better and the shutter less louder. Everything else is amazing.
