Great refrigerator

Our former refrigerator which was 20 years old had started to sweat around the seals. Given the cost of replacing the seals and the labor cost to replace them, we decided purchase this GE model which was just the right fit for our home and since there are only two of us, it met out needs. The bonus was, it's made in the USA!

Loved it until it got noisy

We have had the worst luck with kitchen appliances, replacing all of them, some twice, in the 10 years we have been in this house. This refrigerator was our first GE product, and I had great hope that it would be the answer to our bad luck, but alas, it isn't. It worked beautifully for the first 3 years, but now I think the fan motor is going bad. It sounds like a jackhammer (not quite that loud). At least it is still cooling, and I hope that continues until next week when the repairman comes out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No bells and whistles, just an icemaker added and reversed the door swing, which was so easy I did it myself. Cut my energy bill by $30 (not sure if that is a comment on my old fridge or the new, probably both). After having a side by side and then a bottom freezer, I kind of like a top freezer again.
