1.) Was delivered without handles installed, was told would come assembed with handle opening on the correct side; door was opening one wrong side. 2.) Some one had scarred up the lip of door by sealing gasket side of freezer and there is a "Paint" bubble on freezer front door resulting in having to order a new door. 3.) No directions for operation of appliance or explanation of recommended settings only had installation guide.
I installed this in September my new home, and was surprised at how much noise it makes while running. It was a disappointment for a GE product. Otherwise, it's adequate for its purpose.
I bought this seeking a unit that matched my other appliances and accomplished the basic goals. I think refrigerators can become obnoxious, this one is not and does everything it needs to. It has an even cooling distribution in the refrigerator portion. The shelves are well built and the door storage is durable and well thought. The freezer does what it is supposed to and the optional ice maker kit functions well, although it does consume quite a bit of freezer space. I would've preferred a slightly larger freezer and its the only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. The energy star rating is great and it is indeed efficient.
This is the only model I could buy that fit the space I have for it. The freezer does not have a light which is annoying. Otherwise it is fine. The finish shows lots of fingerprints, smudges, etc.
We bought this for the inlaw suite. It's a great size for one or two people. There's good lighting and decent room on the door. Down side the freezer space is limited. The shelves on that door are large. A large pizza box could block closure.
