This product does not hold up. I had it quit within 13 months of purchase and the company did replace it, but the second one also quit working within 18 months. The product does not hold up.

worked great...when it worked...

I only owned the Sonic FlexCare+ toothbruch for about 9 months until it started acting very irratically. Turning on and off in the middle of the night and not charging. Until it finally died. For $200 I expected far greater quality and reliability...instead I got a "haunted toothbrush! "

Awesome Brush

I love this tooth cleaning system.. notice I didn't use "toothbrush" because it really isn't one at all. You don't use it to brush and be harsh on your gum lines, rather, it glides across the surface of your gums and teeth without a lot of pressure needed.
I was skeptical of Sonicare systems, even after both my brother and sister swore by them for over a year. I finally found a great deal for 2 brushes, the UV cleaning system, and travel charger. Great deal almost two for one!
For the first month, you feel like you've left the dentist office after a cleaning twice a day, until you get so used to that feeling, you don't notice it anymore. I haven't been to a dental checkup yet since starting sonicare in April, but am anxious to see the improvement in my gum wear after quitting a harsh regular tooth brushing routine. Dentist said I was brushing unevenly near molars, and that gum abrasions were noticeable.
This brush is maintenance free, and the replacement heads are pricey at $10/head, but its a small price to pay for improved oral care which leads to better health down the road according to research. $40/year over a lifetime isn't that much considering.
Be creative and find deals on the web for replacements rather than buying in a store.

Flaw in build

I had 2 of these models broken within 3 years of use. Unlike the old design, the metal rod on the base unit (where the toothbrush head attaches) becomes loose over time until it does not work or vibrate the toothbrush. The first one broke, I bought the same model and sure enough a year later the second one broke with the same problem. I would recommend the older products that are not built so cheaply. The older models of sonicare lasted me 10 years not 1. In addition the 5 settings are pretty useless, the setting "clean" alone is sufficient to use on teeth and gums, just need to change how much pressure you use.

The base handle does not hold up.

I love this toothbrush but it just doesn't hold up. The metal rod in the handle that the brush attaches to breaks on these brushes and they quit working. I have just replaced a thrid one and I went with a different style of handle/head which attaches by screwing it on. I hope it will last a little longer!!! These products are good but certainly not "built to last". Be prepared to replace about every couple years or so...
Pros: multiple settings
Cons: short life!

Not reliable

Apparently there is a design flaw with these units as the shaft separates from the motor drive over time. Mine stopped working and you cannot get any replacement components. You cannot buy the handle separate from the charger base if you need a replacement. I would not recommend this product base on this design flaw.
I've purchased 2, both failed by turning on themselfs and then not at all

You know what they say about fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
If you like waking up in the night wondering what that noise is only to realize your going to have to chuck it in the garage because the toothbrush can't be turned off, then this is the device for you.
Pros: cleans well
Cons: breaks, bad for the landfill, can't be stopped

It broke, multiple time, and is not worth purchasing!

Within weeks of purchasing this toothbrush and sanitizer, the UV sanitizer broke. Philips replaced the sanitizer, but within months, we noticed that the toothbrush was not cleaning our teeth as well as it did when it was new. We replaced the brush heads, but this didn't help. A short time later, the toothbrush stopped vibrating completely...it certainly makes plenty of noise, but doesn't really do much of anything beyond that.
Pros: loud enough to scare the dog
Cons: expensive, doesn't work, did i mention that it's expensive and doesn't work
