Black marks on clothing, dryer rips off buttons

Loved the price, layout, and capacity of this washer and dryer unit. Ignored the reviews on tearing of buttons, pulling of strings, etc. In hindsight that was a mistake. My dryer does rip buttons off, and makes a loud, grinding noise if it catches a string from a swimsuit in the upper front portion. I can pry it loose if I stop the dryer, but who wants to only operator a dryer when they're home? Also, not sure if it's coming from the washer or dryer, but numerous pieces of clothing come out finished with black grease marks that were not there before use. Using stain spray does not remove these; we're ruined numerous articles of clothing in this.
The machine does have great features and the appearance is excellent. Value is good for the price. But I cannot look past what it does to our clothing. Unless you're using this to wash old rags, I would not recommend purchasing.

I read all the reviews for this product before purchasing but they were all over the place, so I went ahead and purchased based on the GE reputation. Bad move. It does rip off buttons and strings on sweats. I've also had an issue with leaking and this is the second unit. Customer service was awesome, even the techs that came to the house were great. I like the size of the washer and dryer but the product is inferior.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work at an apartment community, and we purchased/installed 36 of these units for our homes. ALL of these units have needed repairs and/or parts replaced. They are all for different reasons (i.e. recall on the dryer doors due to clothes continuing to get stuck in them; fill valve, lid switch, lid locks, and more all going out needing to be replaced, etc.) Unfortunately, these units were purchased within a couple months of each other, roughly 1 year ago, so all warranties are up or running out within a month, so we will now be incurring all costs for repair/replacement parts.

Rips buttons off clothing, and twists clothing into a rope
on October 3, 2012

We bought this unit 8 months ago. The dryer unit rips buttons off shirts, eats straps off of clothing, destroys my baby clothing by riping snaps, and twisting the clothing so tight into a spiral that it leaves holes in the clothes. There should be a recall on this item since others state the same problem with the unit.

Energy saving and smart appliance combination

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Washer has the convenience of an auto load sensor and 5 different wash/rinse temperatures, I especially like the Tap Cold feature as an energy saver. The dryer is amazing, I use the Optium Dry setting which gets laundry perfectly dry in a short amount of time. These are energy efficient, user friendly and quite smart appliances.
I would recommend this to a friend!
