This phone is absolutely the worst--I rue the day I bought it.

I would never recommend this phone to anyone. It has a great looking screen, but it has several problems leading to my assessment as "the worst." There are many reviews of this phone online. Wish I had seen them before buying this phone. First of all, the phone randomly turns itself off numerous times during the day. Second, when reading web pages and at other times, the screen freezes requiring that the phone be turned off and back on again. Third, despite having most battery-draining functions turned off or set on lowest setting, I cannot get through even half a day without having to recharge the battery (am on the 3rd battery with same results each time). I had a Samsung Behold before this phone, and while it didn't have the glaring deficiencies of the SideKick, I will never own another Samsung phone.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, turns off randomly, screen often freezes, poor battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My Love/Hate Relationship With This Phone

I've had the 4G sidekick for almost a year and a half now (I haven't upgraded because I refuse to renew my TMobile contract), and I'm finally upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G.
I have a thing for qwerty keyboards; that plus the fact that this phone was free after the rebate was why I purchased it. Within the first month of having it, the phone was having all sorts of bugs, and my insurance replaced it. Unfortunately, they were even worse on the new phone! I simply assumed that this was how the phone was (and I still assume that) and accepted it for what it is.
This phone has a problem with doing basic functions, which I blame on the Android version that it uses, such as: sending text messages, opening the photo gallery, using the Internet, etc. When you do any of these too quickly, the phone freezes, or in the case of texts, will not send the text and you have to re-try. When it restarts itself, the touch screen just decides not to work, and you have to manually restart the phone AGAIN either by holding down the power button or by taking out the battery. Sometimes on startup, the actual Android program is non-responsive, and you'll get a message saying so.
As for the calls...well, if you can answer them (sometimes when I swipe to answer, it just disconnects the call. Awesome), the sound quality is alright. However, if you are in a long call and the phone gets too hot...the touch screen stops working, some more, and you have to take out the battery to end the call. This lovely feature can be a huge pain if you're trying to answer a call while on the phone, and your screen doesn't work. The speakers are also terrible.
The Internet connection on this phone is super fast, when the TMobile Internet decides to be functional (not the phone's fault). It's my favorite feature of the phone, and the pop-up design and keyboard make it feel like a mini computer. Unfortunately, like I said, the internet program freezes when loading certain pages. If you don't touch the screen during this event, SOMETIMES you'll get the alert that the program has stopped responding and you can close it. Otherwise...that's right! Pop out the battery. Again.
Battery life has been pretty good up until the past few months, and I haven't needed to replace it. I love the features of this phone, and it's design, I just wish the darn thing weren't so buggy!
It's other plus is that I've dropped it down countless flights of stairs, onto concrete, thrown it at the wall in frustration, and it doesn't have a SCRATCH. I hope my next phone is as durable as my Sidekick, but it probably won't be as I have the feeling that this phone is only durable to spite me with its continuous existence.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, qwerty keyboard, 4g capable
Cons: Did not meet expectations, a lot of software bugs, did i mention the freezing?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Durable Phone

I am a huge fan of Samsung phones; I was iffy on getting a touch screen because my Mother’s LG developed black spots on the screen just a few months after she bought it. This phone however has a wonderful touch screen not overly sensitive, works great for both larger fingers like my own and smaller more graceful ones like my sisters. The phone its self is a good size with a readable screen, it has some weight to it making it easier to hold on to (unlike some lighter weight phones that fly out of your hand with a moment’s notice.) Like most Samsung phones the Sidekick can stand up to a little bit off water, so a spilled drink or fall into a pet’s water dish won’t completely destroy it. Dropping this phone MUST be avoided, the back is not on tight enough to stay on when dropped and it is not uncommon for the battery, sims card, and memory card to fly out and scatter. Texting on the screen can be harder for some, but the ‘swipe’ ability makes it an easier task. It of course has a full keyboard, keys are on the small side but still easily used even for a heavy texter. Battery has a decent life, but will last longer if you download a battery saving app.
Overall a very nice stylish phone with a user-friendly interface that can take a few lumps.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the first smart phone I have owned. I wanted something that also had a qwerty keyboard but was also an android, so I ended up with this being my best option. I love the keyboard. It makes texting so much easier for me. I like that I don't have a lot of trouble with the touch screen, as I have had with other devices in the past. The battery life isn't great, but that was easily remedied by downloading a battery saving app and now my battery life is much longer. I'm very satisfied with this phone and I'm glad I purchased it.
Pros: Bright display, Durable
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

to say the least, this is the worst phone i have ever owned. it does nothing but freeze/lag/restart itself and stop responding with everything i try to do. i hate this phone with a passion, and i'd rather not have a phone at all than have this.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, lagging/freezing!
