"Newbie" Touch-Screen Android User

I just purchased the T-Mobile SIDEKICK, which I chose because I wanted to experience an android touch screen phone, but also wanted a QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard on this phone is very roomy. I really like the "android" aspect of the phone, but the touch screen aspect is taking me a bit of getting use to. The touch screen is nice, but it seems that a lot of times the screen is either too sensitive or doesn't respond to my touch. Furhermore, pressing the screen or one of the buttons along the phone by mistake will activate a function that I didn't intend to happen. Needless to say this can be annoying; but perhaps once I've become more acclimated to the phone this problem will go away--or at least deminish :)
The phone freezes up, locks up, drops bluetooth, VERY Unhappy with it.
Pros: Bright display, Durable
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mediocre phone, but GREAT keyboard

I bought this solely for the physical keyboard as I need to be able to do precision text work. It's definitely the best out of the many I've tried.
Other than that, the phone is pretty average, with two big cons:
(1) camera has no flash (2) stock ROM is incredibly laggy - if you want decent performance you need to flash it with a custom ROM. There's several hacked stocks, but unfortunately there is no CyanogenMod port yet or planned :(
Pros: Inexpensive, qwerty keyboard
Cons: no flash, stock ui is slow and laggy
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like the phone overall because it has great features. However, with all the features it offers, it should come with more space available. I was upgraded this phone from the Motorola Clik. I downloaded all the apps I had from my previous phone, and when I went to use some of the features that were not available on the Clik, it prompted me to delete some of the apps because there wasnt enough space. The things i could use were very slow to open, and sometimes locked the phone up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Received the SK4G this week. I've never used a SK before and was leary as I chose to upgrade my older phone with this one. So far, very impressed with the style and performance it offers! Froyo works great on it (or have no issues yet), the apps that are pre-installed are great and useful for me (I'm in the 40 something age group). My only issue is I feel like the Home button is in a bad place and the Power/Lock button should NOT be directly under the camera shoot button...bad placement! An LED flash for the camera and choosing a 5 megapixel cam or higher would have made the SK4G a stellar device! Other than that, I find myself growing fonder of this phone and think that Samsung out did themselves with the stylish design, AMAZING keyboard (best I've used), Android's Froyo, touch screen, Jump features, and making it 4G. Great phone!
This phone was appealing because of the slide out keyboard, 4g capability, and overall features. Performance on this is lacking, however. I've had numerous freeze-ups, force closes, and restarts. Overall functionality is still good, and there ARE lots of features, I just need something that can perform better than the sidekick has. Battery life is very respectable if you aren't running many widgets, live wallpapers, etc.
Cons: Too big, Did not meet expectations, buggy, poor performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

New Kind of Sidekick...

I really miss some features of the old Sidekick like, how the apps and programs were listed and the swivel screen but, I had been using the Samsung Vibrant prior to getting the Sidekick 4G and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I dropped it into water. The Sidekick 4G helps combine what I loved about previous Sidekicks I've owned and the Samsung Vibrant. I wish the camera quality was better...
