Not good

Cheap product. A mistake on my behalf.
Failed to set up 3 times before eventual success.
Keeps showing empty colour cartridge and not printing till reset cartridge every time it's used. Cartridge full as I have never printed in colour yet. E.print too hard to set up.
I have given up on the unit and putting the purchase down to bad experience. I will not be tearing up any more hard earned money on this company and will purchase a better quality air print printer from another manufacturer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

HP 3050A PSC

The printer was a present from my daughter. Although the purchase price was much cheaper than my previous HP printer It lacks the material qualities of its predecessor - a HP Deskjet 1350 PSC. The switching and display is not nearly as robust or clear and on the first time of use I tried to scan a page from a book - and to try and avoid light penetration on the platten the right side lid hinge snapped all-too-readily and I now have a damaged faulty printer from day 1 because of damage that I believe shouldn't have happened. My previous printer was much more robust than this and could withstand this usage.
This printer prints slightly faster than the HP 1350 PSC and prints very clearly. However, the original ink cartridges do not last long enough before replacing. I believe the larger capacity XL ones hold just 10 mls and in my view it is not enough.
The ink cartridges on the HP 1350 PSC were 19 mls and represented much better value for money. The cartridge packaging on both size-levels for the 3050A gives the respective number of pages it may print but it no longer shows the volume of ink.
It looks like the marketing men have been interfering with the displaying of the products virtues and in my view does not give a fair description of its capacity as with most previous HP cartridges.
Although this printer prints slightly faster and makes printing envelopes a bit easier I preferred the 1350 PSC for its build and display qualities.
I'd rather you increased the build-quality and charged more for the printers but decreased the need to replace the ink cartridges so frequently.
I like and have always opted for HP printers but this machine has made me revise my thinking. I have a feeling it won't last as long as its predecessor.
I use the printer mainly for printing and photocopying documents plus a fair amount of scanning. My wife uses it for photocopying documents for her work, but not in any great numbers. It carries out all of these tasks quite well. I wish I'd received a printer with a higher specification as they are probably better value for money in the longer term. However, I wouldn't buy another one.
I like the on-line service provided by HP in respect of replacing ink cartridges which is included in the printer software. It worked well and at a price well below that of many other retail outlets. Having an ink-level indicator included within the printer's features means you can check the levels and send an order to replace the cartridge/s before they run out.
I wish I'd received a printer with a higher specification as they are probably better value for money in the longer term, but I wouldn't buy another 3050A PSC.
