This one replaces my older GE drop in.....Such a greater look ...Needed a bit of adjustment on the cabinet but very minor! A definite win!

The favorite appliance of cheap contractors

Let's face it, if your contractor only allowed space for a 27" drop-range in the kitchen--as the builder of my house did 50 years ago--you own a GE Profile. Buy one or remodel, that's your choice. The first GE Profile originally installed in the house lasted 35 years, like all good American-made products of that era. It was still working when I took it out, primarily because Harvest Gold and burned-in stains clashed with the new floor. The replacement 27" profile, installed in 2001, burned out the controller board in 10 years. Naturally, GE had changed the model slightly in the meantime, making the old controller board unobtainium. So, I had to buy an almost identical oven, at twice the price I paid a little over a decade ago, to get my oven working again. Since pretty much every part but the controller board was identical, I tore the old oven apart and bagged every part before tossing the shell. With a spare controller board in hand, maybe I'll be luck to get a decade out of this one before I have to dig into that spare parts bag. All in all, it's not a bad oven, but it's twice the price of most 30" ranges, which have more room and are plentiful, thus price-competitive. Unless you have serious space issues, don't be a cheap contractor.

Not only does it overheat, the door does not seal.

We bought this almost a year ago and have fought with GE ever since on the oven door does not seal, does not pass the dollar bill test, does not cook evenly. Instead of cooking an item for 10 min, it takes 20-30 minutes. GE says it is cosmetic and we have tried 5 times to get a range that is correct with no help from GE
