Love this vent hood

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We like blackened dishes and hot-seared steaks, without the distraction of a shrieking smoke alarm. This vent hood does an outstanding job of exhausting every ounce of smoke coming off our cook top, no matter what.
Installation was easy, too.

Nice looking hood but had some issues

Great looking hood. I like the under mounted controls to give this hood a sleek, clean-lined design and the motor is quite strong. I returned for a few reasons. The mounting screw holes are located on the very edge of the unit, so you have to screw into the end grain of the cabinet side panels. I don't see how this would be done with particleboard cabinet frame. Mine were plywood and the screws were coming loose. The directions say to install wood filler strips under the cabinet, but there is no way to fasten into the extra support due to the location of the screw holes. If you were to get this hood, I would opt for the wall mount method. Just make sure you have the proper blocking in the wall framing behind the hood. Second, the halogen lights give out great light, but they get HOT! Almost as hot a heat lamps. Third, the control housings for the fan and light switches are very flimsy and rattle around when the switches are used. Luckily the motor was defective on mine and was able to replace with the KVUB600DSS which has LED lighting and the motor can be mounted in the attic for whisper quite operation. Just not a fan of the front mounted controls and lcd display.

Awesome hood!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this along with a new Kitchenaid 5 burner gas stove and the french door cabinet depth refrigerator. I love them all and this hood is outstanding. It really looks beautiful in my newly remodeled kitchen and is well worth the cost. Yes, it is loud on the higher settings but it will suck any smells and smoke right out of your kitchen. I find that the lowest setting works just fine, and I will kick it up when I'm searing meats. The washable grates are an awesome feature, just pop them out and wash and dry them. The lights provide ample light, but that's my one complaint, they do get hot! I am SO pleased I spent the extra money for this hood, it is gorgeous and works perfectly.

Loud and functional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this to go in our new kitchen. It does function well but it is loud. Loud enough that I'm looking to replace the fan or find some solution to it. Cooking with it on low makes conversations possible but stepping it up to medium or high is pretty annoying if you want to talk while cooking. It's annoying even if you don't want to talk.
Note: We have a Kitchaid dishwasher KDTE404DSS0 that I believe is a great product. I don't want to just be a basher here.

Buyer beware!

I purchased this range hood three years ago and it has died! It was rather loud but did the job of pulling cooking fumes from the house. But now it will not work, only hums when turned on. I would not buy this appliance again. Very disappointed in KitchenAid.
