Has been working well for about 2 years!

I bought this for my 2011 MacBook Pro (since it featured a Thunderbolt port and USB 2.0) - I wanted to keep it as current as possible, and this hub has delivered to that end. I can hook up an HDMI external display, while connecting 3 usb 3.0 drives and daisy-chain 3 more Thunderbolt drives. I couldn't do that before with what my MacBook has by default.

Great Desk Accessory for my laptop

This is actually my second Thunderbolt dock and both have worked well. I can put my laptop in the desk drawer when in the office and leave my large monitor and other peripherals connected. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is that the USB ports do not power an Apple Superdrive which I would love to leave on my desk next to dock :(

No problems. Almost meets my needs. I guess I may need a second one. Would love to have e-SATA.

Purchased for my partner as she travels with her macbook pro and needs to unplug everything to head out. She has an older second screen – we attached that using HDMI to VGI – worked fine; We have a powered 7 USB (with several slots to sparespare) hub attached to one USB – and everything seems to work (back up discs, printer etc): web Camera to another USB port – all good; have attached the Ethernet cable – all good; which means that there are two spare USB, a HDMI and one more thunderbolt on the computer - for temporary thingys. Brilliant.
So the success is that there is just one cable plus the power cable to be removed when she takes the computer away – which is often. She is very happy with that compared to the former when it took her ages to figure out what where etc.
Now – just one problem – I want one – but not yet convinced myself to pay the price a second time.

Perfect add-on to my Mac

This is a fantastic add-on to my Mac. Light, lives on my desk most of the time, but when I do need to travel, it's easy to just throw into a suitcase and go. Leaves me plenty of port space and keeps things nice and tidy so I"m only plugging in one thing when I set my laptop down.

Outstanding Product. Don't believe 1-star reviews

I love this device. It takes the single Thunderbolt port on my Macbook air and gives me a whole bunch of other ports. It's amazing! It has always been plug and play with me. I do drive a second monitor that happens to be DVI off this hub. I use a Minidisplay to DVI converter for that. It works great. The people giving it 1-star reviews are doing so because they don't know how monitor technology works and are probably trying to hook up two very old monitors to a new computer. These incompatibilities are not Belkin's fault, and they shouldn't be giving this product 1-star because they are, shall we say, challenged by technology.

Would be great if secondary monitor was reliable..

This hub is awesome except for one HUGE problem. Whenever the display on my MacBook goes to sleep, the external monitor that is connected through the mini display port will not wake up no matter what I do! Have tried every single power fix under the sun - only way to get the monitor to display a picture again is to reboot the computer which is horribly inconvenient. Basically can't leave the computer alone for more than 5 minutes...

Hi, pjohnson826,

Your feedback is important to us. We understand the inconvenience of rebooting your computer just to get the monitor working again. Please share with us the details at BelkinCares@belkin.com so we can look closely into this uncommon behavior of your Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock. Indicate your contact information and the link to this review for reference.

Worthless for second display
on July 5, 2016

Recently purchased the Thunderbolt 2 dock to connect two displays. One via HDMI, the HDMI unit won't connect, and the USB ports for the USB display won't stay connected.
Unplugged power, let sit, and re started computer. Nothing seems to solve this
Response from belkin.comBy BelkinCustomer Support July 7, 2016
Hi Rabbit,

For dual displays to work, at least one display has to be Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 technology-ready. If it doesn’t support Thunderbolt technology, then the dock supports either HDMI or Mini DisplayPort, but not both.

If you have any other questions, feel free to drop as an email at BelkinCares@belkin.com with your contact details, location, review title, and the link to this post.
