Glad I bought it

I'm very pleased with this phone. It's fast -- cold boots in about a minute and everything I try is snappy with minimal jerkiness. Finds directions on Google Maps very quickly.
Sony media apps seem to "throw" to video seamlessly to my Sony HDTV's (EX710, EX720). I understand most DLNA TV's will work the same once you set this feature up.
While I don't use all of them, Sony's included applications I've tried are surprisingly functional. Car Mode is pretty good. The Walkman app sounds better than my old MP3 app as it has toggles for sound leveling and "clear audio" among other features. These are functional, not just gimmicks. Some have complained about WI-FI connectivity and I'd recommend they update the firmware on their router. I'm running an updated FIOS router and have had no issues whatsoever. I've spent a lot of time on wifi. Even the power savings features actually work rather well, disconnecting when unused and connecting as-needed.
In bright sunlight the screen can be hard to see, but back light option makes it merely usable and is quickly accessible.
I have two Sony ActionCams and find it connects pretty seamlessly over multiple (sleep/resume) sessions, although I have to manually tap which cam I want to see each time. That only takes a moment but be nicer if it auto-resumed. Bluetooth 4 seamlessly re-pairs with Plantronics Voyager HD Pro, no fiddling needed. (Yea!) The exchange email software is quite usable (I get 150 a day, so this is big). Finally, it's a bit difficult to discern what is part of the Android OS and what parts Sony tweaked, but going from my old Android 2.3 to Jelly Bean is huge improvement in intuitive functionality. I understand Sony adds some widgets which again are quite usable. Sony also includes "mini-apps" such as a voice recorder that can be quickly called into action so I can dictate a reminder while driving without hardly looking.
Sorry for the ramble, but I really feel I got my money's worth as competitor phones are very attractive and it was a very hard decision. The usability of this phone exceeded my expectations and that's what has me glad I chose this phone. It's nice to be able to just use the thing without digging through the controls to wake up Bluetooth or some other annoyance.

I was very pleased with this phone! Actualy, I was on the way to buy the iPhone after 5 years of using Android, because I was very disapointed of lack of music organizer. But when I got Sony SP I was inspired by Media Go, that's really much more usefull and very easy to use. The only minus, that it can't sync files bouth ways. I mean disability to sync media files after organizing (adding) songs to playlists on the phone. Maybe I'm doing smth wrong, but I cant see added on the phone songs in Media Go. So, 4 stars only for this minus. But I'm very glad to use Sony SP, and I hope, that all my further phones would be SONY. Really, best Android devices! Very fast and beautiful interface, cool design an materials and best media organizer for Android! The only minus of phone, that it hasn't built in flashlight app. But it's not crytical - Gogle Play has a lot) Best regards to developers and managment!

Sony Xperia SP: Small, yet Powerful

I bought this phone for my girlfriend since she didn't want a big phone like the Xperia Z. She LOVES this phone! The fact that it is also 4G LTE is a plus! This phone is popular in the UK and I can see why. It has so many great features and for the price, you cant go wrong. Unlocked as well. My sister and her boyfriend ended up getting this phone as well. They all LOVE this phone. The Sony Xperia SP is a great phone at a great price. Definitely check this phone out if you want a small, yet powerful phone with 4G LTE.

I have the black version of this phone. I'm really glad to have finally got away from the iPhone community. While I still have reservations about the Android system, I've been quite happy with this phone so far. It's pretty fast, it looks great, and the LED bar is something that should be on every single phone. (I have to admit that the LED bar was one of the main reasons that I bought this phone!)
Some things that could be better - 1. Screen visibility under direct sunlight (which you can hardly avoid if you live in SoCal): you WILL need to turn up the brightness to its max when you're outdoors under the sun. Even so, it still appears a bit dark. 2. Cosmetics: some paint on the edges has already peeled off (I've had this phone for about 3 months only); the back cover is a bit too plasticky. 3. I wish the dial pad volume weren't tied to media volume.
The review below regarding some serious problems with WiFi - I've experienced NONE. The person might have gotten a lemon?
Overall, I would recommend this phone given its reasonable price point and the associated functions and performance.

I Bought 2

Wanna know how good this phone is? I bought it after saving for a couple of months. About 4 weeks after buying it, it was stolen. I knew immediately I was going to buy back the same phone. This time I didn't have to wait and save, I got a better job and my first major purchase was this phone. The Xperia SP is the ideal Sony phone, it works as beautifully as it looks. I have only one complaint, the blinking notification light (at the bottom) only flashes on a regular basis when plugged in. Therefore only once when unplugged. Would have preferred to see a repetitive reminder flash of light when I haven't checked the phone.

Loving this cell phone!!!

I had this phone for about 4 months now. I love this phone. It is super cute; specially the led bar feature. Very reliable and I like how Sony blends its features for maximum functionality. The phone is super fast when I use the WiFi. But I am having a hard time finding phone carries that have this phone listed in their device comparability list. Other thank that; I have to say I am very happy with my purchase. This is a phone that stands out in aesthetics. I am totally enjoying my new phone.
What's great about it: Features, size, speed, functions, photos, and video
What's not so great: Having a hard time finding a reliable service provider in my area. Carries don't have this ph listed in their network.
I would recommend this to a friend!

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

This isn't really a detailed review. The major con is just too glaring to ignore. The phone is nice and all for a mid-range and it looks great, but the WIFI is HORRIBLE! This is a major issue because everybody just expects WIFI to be fine in a smartphone, since, well, it's a smartphone. However, the range and consistency of the WIFI on this phone just feels like it was made when WIFI was first invented or something. Range is low and it just drops inexplicably a lot. WORST PART is Sony doesn't even address this issue, much less acknowledge it. Go to the support forum and this is the number one issue. Sony asked for some guy's info and NEVER came back with a clear cut solution or that this will be fixed or anything really.
So yeah...unless you have unlimited data, don't bother with this phone. It's a shame really.
What's great about it: Looks good, good specs for a mid-range
