A little disappointed

I think there should be more training on the use of this appliance and more recipes available. I know that I am not getting the kind of use out of it that I expected and I'm not sure I should have spent that much money for what I'm getting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Speedcook is great; wish it were self cleaning

I have had a 240V Advantium for only 3 months now, and so far the most notable success in using the Speedcook function has been roasting a 4.5 lb. chicken in 25 minutes. We use the microwave feature the most often, and we've also used the proof function. We like it much better than the 120V version it replaced. Drawbacks - not self cleaning, and the light doesn't stay on so that you can monitor cooking. In my experience, you can only turn it on a limited amount of times when microwaving, I assume because it is the halogen light.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love it!

This oven replaces the last Advantium oven I had. The original lasted 10 years. To fit the same space I needed to add the storage drawer below. The new oven is much larger inside, which is fabulous. It's also much quieter than the last model we had.
Overall I'm very pleased with this new model.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the speed cook feature ... but...

I really like the speed cook feature which blends microwave and convection cooking. I would buy this oven again just for this, but my old GE microwave was a better microwave. I have had my Advantium repaired 3 times in less than 2 years. Twice the turntable motor went out (which required the entire unit being removed from the wall to repair). Not an expensive repair but a pain. The other repair was on the convection fan. This repair needed no new parts so it wasn't too bad but REALLY - 3 repairs in 20 month seems excessive especially given the high price of the unit to begin with.

GE Advantium 240v ovens ROCK!

I am now on my second 240v. Advantium oven because I simply can't live without one! Back in 2000, I bought one of the first Advantiums being sold and it was a 240v. over the cooktop unit. In TEN YEARS of daily use, it didn't even have a light bulb burn out. My then-teenage son used the Advantium *constantly*, but even he couldn't damage the 'bullet-proof' Advantium.
When I moved in 2010, I bought a 240v. Advantium 30 in. wall oven which I use many times a day and it's PERFECT. Just like the previous Advantium, NOTHING breaks on it in spite of constant use. Yes, there's some smoke and mess if you're cooking sausages without any cover, but it's otherwise EXCEPTIONAL.
I just bought my THIRD Advantium 240v. oven to install downstairs in the rec room. The 110v. Advantium units are NOT the same and I don't recommend them due to reliability issues and slower cooking. Seriously, I tell everyone to BUY an Advantium 240v. oven and they'll never regret it! I've professionally designed many 'upscale' kitchens and GE appliances are MUCH more reliable than the "designer brands". For my own kitchens, I buy GE!

Of all the new items we purchased for our renovated kitchen my 240 Speed Cook Wall Oven is hands down the favorite. So easy to use that my husband can help with meal preparation. The meal selection feature is a snap to use and the items cook so fact it is wonderful!

I bought the Advantium in May and in June it was making a funny noise. Called service and tech came out and replaced the fan. Within one week of that repair now the control board and several other parts need to be replaced. Unable to use appliance in 4 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Couldn't have a kitchen without it

I am using the original model of the Advantium that I bought in 2000 before it was even in the store. We use it for everything. Baked salmon comes out with a faint brown crust- lovely. Reheated muffins keep their crispness on the top and no sogginess. Can't say enough positive things about this appliance. The 240 volt work much better than the 120.
