I had a regular yoga mat from Gaiam for over 10 years. I bought this one for some extra thickness. I have enjoyed it! I don't slip on it too much, but I don't use it for hot yoga either so I'm not dripping on it. I like the extra thickness for my knees, and the color is soothing.

This mat is really sticky. I bought it for that reason. The mat has enough cushion, but it is about 4 inches shorter that my old mat. I am 5'4" and either my feet or my hands are off the mat. I thought I was getting a standard size. The shortness of the mat is the reason I gave it only 3 stars. If you are short this is a god mat.

Good for light practices--nice amount of cushion and durable, but becomes very slick once you start sweating. If my hands have any amount of moisture on them it is hard to hold even down dog.

Paint Bleeds! Do not purchase!

Not happy! i just opened up a studio in Feb and the paint on EVERY mat is bleeding and rubbing off on my new studio floors, on my students hands, feet and clothing! I've already communicated this to customer service and told them that someone in charge should be aware as it cannot be healthy. Not sure if anyone did anything but I do not want anyone having the same issue with these. I have to replace these mats, I cannot continue having classes with these, its bad for business!
Cons: bleeds on clothes, bleeds on floors, bleeds on hands and feet, paint is coming off

I've been practicing yoga for over 15 years and the Gaiam Premium 5mm mat is by far my favorite yoga mat. The surface is ideal to prevent slipping. The cushioning is perfect when I practice restorative yoga. I can hold a pose for over 20 minutes with complete comfort. I love the 2 color look of this mat. The Gaiam bolsters and meditation cushion that I own are plum and the plum/jam 5mm mat looks great with the rest of my yoga props. I highly recommend this yoga mat for its performance qualities, aesthetic appeal and affordable cost. Recently replaced my 10+ year old Gaiam mat with this new mat. I have used it twice for yoga and it is comfortably padded, long enough for my 5'8 frame, has no smell, and the grip of the mat allows me to exercise smoothly through individual poses.
