I saw people complaining about these that they break. Well, what I can tell you is that I'm working with field recording, 10-12 hours a day I toss headphones up and down my head, toss them inside the sound bag, drop it 2-3 times per day on the floor, etc.
It is an unortodox thing to use such small and consumer level headphones for professional use, but I pity an expensive pair to use in such an unfriendly environment. I can tell you, I'm very hard on my pair of 490 nc, and they seem to be very durable. I like, that it is a small size, so if I wear in on my neck, it doesnt bother me, I can also just put it a bit more in the back, if I have to open up my ear, when someone is talking to me, or when I want to rest my ears during shooting. It absolutely works the best for me with field recording.
I mean, the cable connector was broken when I bought it, so I just soldered a coiled cable on it. Sound quality is also okay, isolation is okay comparing to the size. (it was better of course with noise cancellation, untill it worked) Had to change cushions as well.
It might not be the perfect headphones, but durability is one of the things I like it. I dont know how other peope could brake it, cause I do not take care of them, and they just go on working for years now. I should step up and buy a good pair of studio headphones, I'm being rediculed on the field, still, I cant let my 490 nc go :D
