Perfect for my needs

I've had my eye on this product for a while, but it has only recently become available for shipping in Canada. To date I haven't seen it advertised as in stock at any Canadian outlet stores. I was tempted to order it online but resisted. Popped into a local BestBuy this morning because I was in the neighbourhood and there it was! I bought it. It's exactly what I hoped it would be. It looks smart and professional, it adds protection to all sides of the ipad, the stretchy band prevents the iPad from falling out (although it snaps in pretty securely). The support for horizontal viewing is very firm and stable. For vertical viewing, the notch closest to you is very stable; the notch closest to the iPad not so much. I consider this case pretty much perfect!
Like a previous reviewer, I bought the Apple leather 'cover' -- it's a decent product but did not provide the protection or stability for hands free viewing that I desired.
Pros: support stability, styling, protection
Cons: back covers up my engraving - but not a big deal
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a great looking case and it provides adequite protection.There is one shortcoming that keeps me searching for a replacement.The grooves are not deep enough to hold the ipad2.When you apply any pressure to the ipad in any of the upright positions it simply falls back and jolts the ipad.Playing a game or entering info,even turning a page in Ibooks will cause it to flop over.I am disappointed in this case.I have a targus for my wifes ipad1 that works great so i am surprised they dropped the ball with this case.
Pros: looks great
Cons: lacks stability
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice looking, but not nice in application

I have owned this case now for over a year. I liked the looks, and I love the feel. However many of the faults are already described. One of the good things so far for me is that I have dropped it numerous times, and it is still in one piece. However, it is quite banged up on the corners of the "grip" portion of the case that holds the iPad. Those corners just look nasty after all the drops. However, the case still holds the iPad in without a problem. My other problem has to do with the grooves to hold the device while using it on a desk, or table. The grooves should have been deeper, or of some other design, because just as many have said, the grooves are not deep enough to hold the iPad secure, and frequently flips out and flops backward while using. This is unacceptable. That is why I rate it as I do. The best part of this case is that it looks smart. I am still looking for something comparable to this one, but with better functionality. Seems there isn't anything much better, as most all cases have some distinct disadvantage. I don't like pockets, and I don't like folding stands. I will just keep looking for the BEST one. Someone has to have it somewhere out there.

Cons: shallow grooves for viewing positions, not rugged enough

Yes there is better case....same for ipad 3and 4

It is a very good case but the one for the ipad 3and 4 holds the ipad better when it is on a flat surface. Guess i should buy an ipad 3 or 4 or targus shouls upgrade this one to the standard of the other one.
I've seen and tried others but this one is the best you can get for now. Please improve it.

This case does not deactivate Ipad when closed

I love the look and that you can rotate the Ipad, but I will return the case until they make one that shuts down the Ipad when you close it. I went to use my Ipad twice and the battery was dead even though the case was closed.
Pros: 360 rotation
Cons: no deactivation when closed

Now, it is perfect

I have to retract my previous review. Here is why. I did take the case back, but I went and selected the same case in the hope that new one did not have the same problem.
When I opened the new package, I could tell right away that the design had been changed just a little. The channels which hold the iPad upright have been widened. This makes a big difference. The iPad now holds steady in the rail.
I am happy. Now, I do have the perfect case.

Aggravating Sleep/Wake Function

I bought this case for its ability to adjust the orientation of the iPad. I like seeing the Apple logo in the back, and the case does have a nice feel. It is heavier and more bulky than I'd expected. The grooves aren't deep enough for it to stay firmly when in landscape or portrait mode and the iPad slips out frequently. The major frustration is that the sleep/wake feature isn't reliable. MANY times I've discovered that my iPad wasn't asleep and the battery was drained down. I really wanted to like this cover but am now shopping for a replacement. Too bad as it's a great concept!
Pros: being able to adjust stand for portrait/landscape, attractive
Cons: poor sleep/wake performance, heavy & bulky

Great case and stand. High marks for design!

Perfection is within reach with this superior case and stand. If the lack of a magnetic closure frustrates you, add one. I just extracted one from an old unused blackberry case and installed it on the elastic band. I used Velcro soft loop material to cover it. Works great and turns off the iPad.
I would recommend this to a friend!
