Let me start off by saying that I own a "Elite" brand tv. So my standards if TV are very high. I purchased this for my children's play room and am blown away by the quality. Really nice picture, especially on Vivid mode. Very slim and designed very well. Over all smart features and wifi have been very easy to navigate. Love this Tv. Edge lit LED makes for a razor slim tv. Bezel is not too bulky. Buy this one.
Pros: quality

40pfl4908 not playing video files

This is a very good TV for the price for those who want a smart TV. BUT BUT BUT The only thing is that it doen't play any video file (MPEG4 or H.264) as it is supposed to do, via USB or a DLNA server on a PC. I tried a lot of files and I did a software upgrade, tried 2 different DLNA server, nothing is working. I contacted the Philips support telling them that I had the message "File is not supported" and they told me "If you have this message it's because the file is not supported" !!! I know my files are supposed to play, they are H.264 and they play very well on my LG TV set.

Smart option isn't so smart!

Tv is great but the internet apps are an issue. The YouTube app ALWAYS lags and freezes after a few minutes of play and the only fix is to unplug the tv. The apps say some are in need of software updates but when an update is attempted, the tv says they're all up to date!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great TV at great price!

This tv was inexpensive and easy to set up. I love the NetTV features, and am pleased with how well it plays with my other devices. Picture is sharp and I have no problems with glare. Great tv for little cost!

Picture quality is fantastic

The picture quality of this TV is fantastic sharp crisp and clear. Football is awesome on this TV. I set it up in a few minutes with few problems. The only negative thing I can say is the remote control is difficult to master. Whoever designed this remote never used it in practical applications. The documentation also leaves much to be desired. Set up however is straight forward and easy to do even though the documentation is not all that it should be. The minor issues I encountered while setting this TV up was easily resolved by a quick call to Netflix and Philips support. I would recommend this TV to family and friends.
Pros: fantastic picture quality, easy to set up
Cons: remote sucks, documentation could be better

Great sound and color.

Has great sound and color if viewed directly. Once you move to the side past about 45 degree, the colors fade significantly. The picture is still good but the colors are not as crisp. I like the smart tv features. I haven't had any problems with them and the wi fi media connect works great. One caveat, make sure your computer and router meets the minimum requirements.
Pros: good sound and color, lots of customization if needed.
Cons: color fade when viewed from angle.

terrible product Don't buy

TV was bought in October 2013, the circuits inside TV failed last week, 12/20/16. I am not happy. I expected much better quality.
I would not recommend that anyone buy this product since it failed after only 2 years - unacceptable.
Pros: none
Cons: unreliable

Out of the box and running in 15 minutes!

Had the wireless linked in just a few minutes. The DVD player was just as easy to install.
Overall this has to be the easiest TV I have ever set up.
