No scanner function & no solution achieved

The printer does not scan documents. I called Apple for help because your alert notice with respect to the failure to scan documents said the explanation/solution was Apple’s to solve. I called Apple and they could not correct the problem. They advised that I call Brother. I have had difficulties reaching Brother. A further subsequent notice appears on my Mac and indicted Brother needs to update its “whatever” App to correctly interact with the latest iOS operating system. I am exhausted chasing after the solution to solve the issue about why your printer device will not scan documents. Please do whatever you need to do so I can scan documents. I am about ready to trash this printer and find some other company’s multi-function “printer”.

My Brother Printer / Scanner Doesn't Keep Up

I was happy with the MFCJ6520DW until I updated the operating system on my MacBook Pro and the printer would no longer scan. I was told by Brother there is no way to update the printer to be compatible with the Mac. At first the printer would not print, but through some manipulation, it does now, but no scanning.
