Not worth the money

I've had this device for a couple weeks now, and the sensor just randomly changes colors throughout the day. The device is also massive and takes up a huge amount of space. Doesn't seem to be worth the large upfront expenditure. Very upset and would like someone from Alen to contact me

Hi Arjun! I'm sorry to hear that you're unhappy with your unit! The BreatheSmart line is built to change colors as the particulate count changes. It does have a sensitive sensor, so it changes very quickly - any time the air conditioner comes on, someone walks by, etc. Please feel free to give us a call at 800-630-2396 and we'll get you taken care of!

It's working over time with winter full on in Michigan and 2 dogs. The first week, I thought something may be wrong. The machine was runnnijng like crazy. BUT, the house was notably cleaner smelling and after that week, it now runs in yellow mode more often. We really see blue as well! Yeah! I love having a clean house and air.

Excellent machine

We had a water leak in a finished basement area that created some mold in the house. The Breathesmart seems to have cleaned up the air on both floors of our house which is about 3000 sq feet. We moved it between two floors which was easy. The color indicators of air quality at least make us feel that the air is now clean. Very easy to use.

It came on time and has been in service ever since, a lot less dust on our hardwood floors. Very happy with the unit.

Early review - subject to change

Alen has been pretty insistent on a review, even though I've only had the unit for about a week. I reserve the right to update this in the future.
1) Purchase, shipping and set up was a breeze. Delivered on time. Unit well protected in strong cardboard container. Foam inserts provided further protection. Only drawback is that our recycler will not accept the foam. 2) Instructions and controls are straightforward and informative. Night mode turns off lights, if they bother you. 3) Auto-fan speed function appears to work well and when the unit has cleaned up the air sufficiently (more about that later) the fan speed drops and at lowest speed is very quiet. Even next speed higher is acceptable for us in the bedroom. This is very subjective assessment. I have a professional sound meter, but I have not performed tests. 4) I was very pleased that there was very little odor when the first starting up the unit. This is a complaint that I have heard about other manufacturers. My wife is particularly sensitive and she did not notice anything after the unit had been run 1-2 hours from new; her first exposure. 5) Air cleaning: It is too early to tell. I don't think our air has been particularly dirty. Most of the smoke from the wildfires has been dispersed. However, unfortunately, we will have the opportunity to test this later this year as fire season has more to go. 6) The air quality indicator is a light with three colors, red, yellow/orange, blue (cleanest). I understand that the price of a calibrated particle detector is not appropriate for this market. I would like to get at least an order-of-magnitude estimate of what particulate levels correspond to the different colors. 7) During the evening we leave the door to our bedroom open. The main reason is to keep the temperature from getting too warm for comfortable sleeping. The room size is about 200 sq. ft. The single-level home is only about 1000 sq. ft. We leave the ionizer on. Under these conditions, the cleanliness stays mostly in the yellow/orange range. Fan speed will oscillate during the evening. If the door is closed and room unoccupied, then the room level will reach the blue state and the fan speed will drop to its lowest level.
That's about what I can report at this time. Generally well pleased at this stage, even though the cost is quite a bit higher than many other well reviewed units. Honestly, there are too many reviewers and they are hard to judge. In addition, there are so many manufacturers (or marketers) that I made the decision based upon manufacture in US, features, quality of information on web site.
