I can breathe!

I own 7 Alen units. Yes, I live in the desert and have asthma and allergies (bummer). The A350 and newer model Breathe Smart units have allowed me to live comfortably in my very large home. I change the filters every 6 months and clean the pre filters monthly. It's a dusty world I live in. Short of getting a divorce after 42 years, Alen has truly saved my health and comfort. Couldn't live without them.

It's been three weeks since I purchased my Breathe Smart Alen Corp air purifier and everyone in our household is sleeping MUCH better and no more sneezes and itchy eyes. It's also so nice to cook salmon for dinner and not have to worry about the cooking odors lasting for two days in our apartment. I HIGHLY recommend the Breathe Smart by Alen Corp !!!

The pro's: Since being operational, I found that the purifier removed a persistent petrochemical odor resulting from our new window installation. However, the special filter designed to do this did not seem to remove the clumps of dusts, mostly in the hallways. So after two months, I pulled the original filter and replaced with a filter designed to collect dust. In the last month, I have noticed very good results.
Con's: I have yet to see the "filter change light advance" to the "order filter" stage. I thought that in the 5 months plus of continuous use that it would be there by now. Also, in an attempt to gauge performance, I periodically pull the cover and check the pre-filter. A number of times, I have noticed dust that accumulates; and I can clean the black pre-filter simply by spray washing and then drying with a blast of hot air from my dehumidifier. It is easily attached to the filter housing with Velcro! Good Design.
Finally, the unit is now on HIGH. I stopped using the AUTO setting since it appears to randomly cycle the processing of air of varying quality. Although you might think that it is difficult to know, I sensed that the cycles repeated in a routine manner suggesting to me that the air is not really that different. So, by keeping it on HIGH I take the psychology issue off the table and assume the unit is doing it's best all the time to collect varying impurity. Hence, there is no sense that there is a slug of contaminated air entering...
