Excellent TV!!! 3D is amazing! The clarity of picture an color are outstanding. I would recommend this TV to anyone.

the PN59D8000 3d plasma tv is a great looking,excellant performing tv.easier to opperate than i expected.it was rated as one of the best tv by several independant servays that i found on-line. i love it,great for gameing also.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

This product has fantastic picture but noise problem

After a lot of investigation, I decided to go with the PN59D8000 which I bought at a good price on March 24, 2012 since it's a 2011 model. Here are some impressions:
1. Setup was not difficult and HDMI hookups are quite convenient.
2. Stand is rather narrow so it could fall over if someone were to knock into it. I plan to secure with safety line to the wall.
3. The TV is very stylistic and looks nice.
4. Most importantly, the picture is really fantastic and much better than LCD in my opinion. Picture is bright and outstanding quality.
5. I bought the cheapest Samsung 3D glasses and 3D worked ok but I haven't played with settings yet.
6. Hard-copy manual is rather minimal but online manual can be downloaded from Samsung website.
7. The internet capability seems to work ok and it was able to link to my wireless router. Services like Netflix worked fine.
8. Built-in speakers are ok but I have home entertainment system.
9. After reading a lot of posts, it's apparent that the thinner plasma TV's can have a background hum of varying intensity. Frankly, I would prefer a less thin TV without a hum. The buzzing noise, which comes from the screen and NOT the speakers, is quite concerning since it's pretty loud at 12 feet away to middle-age (not particularly good) ears. I tried all the routine tricks and nothing changed the buzzing noise. Luckily, I bought this at Best Buy and have 30 days to return, so I would not recommend buying a set like this online. I haven't decided on whether to return but may after a week or two. It's really a shame that the TV has this problem because otherwise great!

I purchased this TV at the beginning of the month and I couldn't be more impressed with the quality of the product, the picture quality and overall features. It includes WiFi connectivity right out of the box, excellent remote and overall Smart Hub apps.
The TV is located in a bright room, with no direct light upon on it, and the Plasma still delivers outstanding picture detail! The 3D detail is superb!
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, the most smart hub apps!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome in every aspect.
Plasma is best for videophiles. This may just be the best plasma out there.
I LOVE the remote control, ad 3-d is better than I thought it could be.

Out-of-box was a snap. Worked without problems. Suggest you read manual for ease of set-up. If you are a techie then pulg it in and go. Excellent picture and focus.
The "Apps" are OK. Navigation on the Internet screens isn't as clear cut as it should be. Best to choose the "Pointer" option instead of tabbing around on the screen. The internet browser needs more work so that
you can get around the net easier.
The 3-D works fine (Need a 3-D source to see in 3-D). It will "convert" regular 2-D into a somewhat 3-D image from regular broadcast signals. The picture is so beautiful and colorful that it doesn't need 3-D to fully enjoy the experience. The TV needs to be positioned so that there are not a lot of lights behind your head while vewing. It is very reflective of window, ceiling and lamp lights. Close the blinds and turn on only "side- room lights" and enjoy the show!! Hook up to your audio equip if possible. Built-in speakers are not really that good. They will work in a pinch.
