My first wide screen LCD was the 42 inch LG. It was great so when it came time to upgrade I went with the 55 inch. The color is sooooo bright and so clear is wild. Love the TV and would tell anyone to get one.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, color and sharpness
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just got this TV in time for some playoff baseball. It replaces a Vizio 47 inch which I thought I was happy with before it broke down. This LG picture is just incredible! The difference in clarity and tracking on live sports makes me realize that I was only happy with my previous TV because I didn't know what I was missing. I did a lot of research before buying this TV and truly feel I got as good a value for a TV of this size and quality as you can find.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality

Good price. Beautiful HD and non-HD picture. Looks nice on our entertainment center. Vibrant colors and TV is very thin.
Set up was easy and connecting other devices was simple.

THIS IS A GREAT TV FOR THE PRICE. IT HAS A WONDERFUL PICTURE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT DIFFERENT PRESET PICTURE MODES LOOK BETTER ON CERTAIN PROGRAMS. EXAMPLE: FOOTBALL LOOKS BETTER ON THE SPORTS MODE. NEWS AND OTHER CHANNELS LOOK BETTER TO ME ON STANDARD MODE. ALSO IF YOUR TV IS IN AN AREA THAT REFLECTS LIGHT TOWARDS A BEDROOM, YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR OWN SETTINGS TO DARKEN THE PICTURE A LITTLE LATE AT NIGHT. THE SOUND WAS NOT THAT GREAT WHEN I FIRST TURNED THE TV ON. IT HAD A LOW SOUND AND THE VOLUME HAD TO BE TURNED UP TO HIGH NUMBERS IN ORDER TO HEAR IT WELL. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM YOU CAN GO INTO AUDIO AND CHOOSE VOICE II AND UP THE VOLUME TO THE MAXIMUM SIX. THIS MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. INSTEAD OF TURNING THE VOLUME TO 40, 10 OR 11 IS SUFFICIENT. IN MY OPINION THE PRESET AUDIO CINEMA IS THE BEST SOUND TO CHOOSE. FOR THE PRICE YOU CAN NOT BEAT THIS TV. PICTURE IS AWESOME ON FULL 1080HD PROGRAMS. ALSO THIS TV IS VERY EASY TO HOOKUP. IT HAS RCA INPUTS FOR OLDER VCRS, TWO SETS OF COMPONENT INPUTS FOR REGULAR DVD PLAYERS, 3 HDMI INPUTS FOR SATELLITE, BLU-RAY DVD PLAYERS, AND GAMING. IT HAD ALL OF THE INPUTS I NEEDED TO USE AND SOME LEFT OVER. I DON'T HAVE A BLU-RAY DVD PLAYER, BUT MY REGULAR PLAYER ALMOST LOOKS 3-D WHEN I PLAY A REGULAR DVD ON IT. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW GOOD IT WOULD LOOK WITH A BLU-RAY PLAYER WHICH I PLAN TO PURCHASE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. AFTER OWNING THIS 55 INCH, I DON'T EVER SEE MYSELF GOING BACK TO ANYTHING SMALLER. IT HAS TOTALLY SPOILED ME.

We reviewed alot of products before we decided what to buy. This was the best for the price. The picture is the 2nd best clarity out there. The best one was alot more money. We are very happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

Great TV!

I've had it for about 4 months now and have a few things about its performance:
1: The screen size is perfect. Very glad I didn't settle for 46" or shell out a few hundred more for 60"
2: Perfect for gaming. Yes, it is true, the whites are just a little dirty, or grungy, or yellowish, but it really is not a problem and the screen is just the right size for a couch 6-8 ft. away.
3: The sound is a bit off sometimes when run simultaneously with an amplifier right off the cable box. This is annoying only sometimes. And hilarious others. I mean, you think it'd be plug and play. Ah well.
4: Hookups a-plenty. I haven't had a need for more and don't use the many provided.
5: Swivel stand is f'ing beautiful.
6: Screen reflection is minimal
7: Speakers on the set are darn good. Surprisingly good, actually; great spread and not too tinny. Though it is tinny. Just not too tinny, ya dig?
8: Looks pretty sleek and slim, though I wouldn't call it light or thin. Yet, it is attractive.
9: Love the screen saver feature.
10: The various options for setting up your picture will keep you busy for days. Not everything makes sense, but a lot of trial and error will getcha the picture you would like. Also, the fact that you can save presets --one for say, gaming, one for movies and one for regular ol' TV watching -- is really cool.
11: The TV is a snap to set up, the menus are a cinch to navigate. Really, there isn't much to not like about this TV. Unless you're into the hottest picture money can buy and if you truly were, then you wouldn't be purchasing an LCD, would you?
12: In summation: this is an excellent TV and I do not hesitate in recommending it wholeheartedly to anyone who is a part-time gamer / netflix aficionado like me.
PROS: Size, sound, connectivity, and picture settings cannot be beat for the price. I think. Though, admittedly, I do not own, nor have I owned any other 55" LCD flat screen televisions. Still, I imagine that if I found one with a better picture, I probably would be paying more.
CONS: The picture, from what I understand, isn't as hot as other models in a higher price range. Right. Well, without having an extraordinary concern for my whites challenging the sun with their refulgence or for my blacks enveloping all light within their gravitational pull, uh, this TV's picture looks just fine. Seriously.
No ethernet plug, but, if you haven't checked out the connections yet and are surprised by that, shame on you. Besides, all it takes is buying a Roku or a gaming system and BAM! you've got the interwebnets right at your fingertips.
I really don't understand the bad reviews, man. I think most of the people who complain about a lousy picture, probably haven't taken the time to adjust it out of the box. Or they were expecting far too much. But seriously, the picture is not bad at all. Especially when you start rocking a movie or two on your couch with your significant other. It's like having your own personal theater. DO IT.
